Oil pressure guage acting up

Hi All,

I've lurked a couple of months, been a member a couple of weeks. I was ready to blow off the Killer Dowel Pin, but figured with my luck the pin will come out. So following the great instructions and advice you guy's have given here. I took the job on today, went very smooth. Only to area's slowed me down,

1) Removing the bolts from the vibration damper was a bit tuff. I finally resorted to sacrificing my serpentine belt to the cause, it needed replaced anyway. I made a loop around the vibration damper & alternator, pulled the loop tight & clamped it together with a pair of vice grips. I could then pry the belt with the vice grips to lock the vibration damper tight enough to get the bolts loose.

2) Crank seal installation as other members have stated was a pain in the butt. I used the vise method, it still took about 30 minutes of frustration.

The dowel pin itself was out just under 1/4", this suprised me as I was expecting to find a flush pin. I tried to pull it out, but could not get a grip on it with any pliers. So it got tapped back in and is now held in place with a washer tab, I did get a longer bolt for the tab.

Anyway this is a great forum I am glad to call myself a member of:)

Thanks,

Mac

Welcome!

I am still screwing up the courage to take on that job myself. Waiting for a time when I can do w/o the rig for a few days in the advent of unforeseen difficulties. :) The crankshaft seal must be a um... trouble. :)
