Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) new member

I would like to start by saying I find everyone's input and willingness to to help others awesome and look forward to hearing from everyone! I bought a 99' 2500 4x4 quad cab with a 5 speed, 3. 54 gears,K&N filter and 4" exhaust. I had the lift pump pressure checked and I replaced the pump. I talked to a friend who said that he can hear his pump while cranking the engine. I rarely heard the old pump or the new one while cranking. Is this normal? Is there something else I need to check? I don't have presuure gauge yet but plan on getting one. Other than the lift pump is there any other problems with the 24 valve? Are the electronics reliable? I have another friend who put the Diablo power puck in his truck and said it helped greatly with performance and fuel mileage. I don't pull a trailer on a regular basis but I would like better performance and improved fuel mileage but I don't want to drastically shorten the life the engine or cause damage. Is the diablo a good choice? How much increase in horsepower and torque would I gain? Where are some good places to get one? I hope I didn't get carried away with the questions and I look forward to hearing from everyone!

Questions....

As far as hearing the LP while cranking... ... You won't. If you want to hear your LP, bump the starter without starting & you will hear it run for like 20 seconds. From what I've read the LP isn't designed to pump until the engine is running.

As far as the diablo puck... . I dunno! The Edge EZ is an awesome performance box which if I recall adds 85 HP & 130 Ft lbs of torque. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on these numbers. I'm still recovering from my DTT transmission, after I recover I plan on an EZ & DD2 injectors.

A South Bend clutch will probably be in your near future after a fueling box because your clutch may not hold up! The VP44 Injection Pumps are kinda iffy & a bit spendy... . Do a search on anything you want info on & you will have plenty of reading to do... .
