Well, today after towing a 6x10 enclosed trailer with about 4,000 lbs in it, i got 10 mpg hand calculated, and empty on the way home 12mpg ... strong head wind of course but this still is killing my pocketbook :( . . any body have a 3. 55 axle they wanna trade out for a 4. 10? :pBTW, this is running 60-65mph.

still seems low. I checked my truck over after I got it and found several boost leaks. You may want to do the same. I had a hole in a boot by the intercooler and the aluminum elbow at the turbo was cracked where the o-ring goes in it.

Really seems low. I got 12. 6 last weekend towing the Jeep on a flatbed trailer (~6000 lbs combined) with a decent headwind for quite a while. I average 17-18 MPG in town empty. Haven't taken a long freeway trip for a while, but I was getting ~21 MPG.

I wouldn't think the 4. 10s would make that much of a difference. One MPG I could see, but an eight or nine MPG difference is horrible.

mileage

Granted, all i have is a brand new stock air filter without the box, stock exhaust system, stock timing. I did a few pump tweaks, mainly AFC related not much power gain at all just some smoke on bottom. I wonder if the T/C is about to grenade. It shifts ok now that i sprayed out the TPS, but it is rattling in park. . what does that mean?

T/C rattle

Couldn't that also be the pesky round tabs inside the converter making noise? I remember a triple-disc converter i bought from Georend Bros. {brand new} made the same noise... no big deal to me, just curious what the sound is for sure.

I have a 93 4WD auto W/OD that I pull a 6X10 Wellscargo single axle enclosed trailer (loaded with tools)that's tall enough to stand up in. . I average 16-16. 5 mpg pulling it @ around 60+MPH... . Have you ever adjusted your timing?. . Maybe that would help, maybe getting someone to service your injectors would be a good idea... just a thought. .

BTW if you are going to change your flexplate go ahead and change out the rear main seal while you have the oporotunity... ... ...

I also agree... . that mileage is just too low for the work your doing... .

Go thru your "air" system and look real close at all the fittings, hoses etc. Actually take them off the truck and look at them closely. With the rubber fittings, pull them off and roll them in between your fingers looking for "dry cracking" like old tires can show.

If possible, pressurize the IC and listen/look for leaks.

Next run a good healthy double dose of additive thru the pump. Use something that has more "focus" on detergent properties.

In my case the signs of flexplate failure started out sounding like a small rock in a tire... . after a few K's it sounded more like a metal screw in the tire... . a few more K's and it sounded like bad engine knock and finally it rattled so bad I knew it was the fexplate. Remember, if it bags out on you, chances are you won't be able to start the truck and will need a tow.

bob.....

troubles

Well, now that the pinion gear is missing a tooth i need to focus my financial efforts on it. . not sure how long i can get out of it. If anyone has 3. 55's or even higher sitting around lemme know ASAP. Thanks for the advise :)
