Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) new motor= lower boost

A friend just swaped in a lower mile 12v in his 97 and swaped all of his goodies over. He's runing a TST plate and striaght exaust. the new mototr was down on power so he started swaping the injectors and such off the old mototr but its still not where it was. hes only getting about 18psi where before he was up near 32psi. I don't have a whole lot of time with the 12 valvers so i'm kinda lost.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but stock boost for a 12v is around 18psi. Sounds to me like his wastegate wasnt opening at stock pressure before. If you plug the line that controls the wastegate with a bolt you will generate somewhere around 35psi boost. Thats not the way I would recomend going about it though, I would go on ebay and pick up a boost controller so he can set the boost at 35psi and not risk damage to the turbo or motor from going over that.

Ahes only getting about 18psi where before he was up near 32psi.

Sounds like he forgot to grab the boost elbow of the old charger. If that's on the new motor, make sure all your clamps are tight, and that all the bolts made it back in the manifold plate.

What year and what trans was in the truck the motor came from? Because there is a 55hp difference from stock to stock depending the configuration. IE: if you have a 160hp motor, it will not make as much power with the standard bolt on's as the 215 motor will.
