I just order a Donaldson M090535 muffler from Ryder Fleet Products. The muffler was $75. 94 delivered to my door. I got it Thursday night. The UPS guy left it so I never signed for it. I opened the box and the muffler is dented. It's not a huge dent, but when I pay good money for a new product I expect it in new condition. I called Ryder yesterday and it seems like it's going to be a big pain in the A** to do an exchange. If any body is thinking a buying a muffler for their truck this big, buy it locally so it can be exchanged easily. Save yourself some grief.

I know it`s not right to receive a somewhat damaged product. :{

But being that it`s only a muffler and you`ll never see it, I would install it with the dent aimed up and none the wiser... . :D

The only problems I have are mostly done by UPS not the shipper, some times the packing should be better too.

My Nelson muffler had a dent in it too. I forgot all about it til I read your post though. Install that puppy and you'll soon forget about it too. (I know. . its nice to get new stuff undamaged)

I got a box this week that was totally flattened with the product inside broke. sent to my folks house and my pop signed for it so now im in the middle of a similar situation but it was signed for as damaged hopefully that helps myself and the supplier recouperating costs :(

Thanks, I just wanted to see if I'm being unreasonable. I'm going to install it with the dent pointed up as DrDiesel suggested.

I bought a Banks Stinger exhaust setup for my old '91, and the muffler in that was dented too - actually more of a pushed in area about the sze of my hand. The carton was undamaged, and I sorta suspected that possibly the mildly pushed in area might be intentional to avoid contact interference in some truck applications - it faced the frame rail next to it's installed position...

OMG guys. It's a muffler. Do you think it won't get dented when it's on the truck?

Don't get your blood pressure up. "Damage" is done, install it, and enjoy it.

Now, if an injector box was all mangled up, that's different, but a "ding" in the muffler. Please :rolleyes:

As was suggested... Face dent up, and motor in bliss.

Ryder Fleet Products had U. P. S. pick up the old muffler on 1-9-07. I received my replacement muffler yesterday which arrived in good condition no dents. Definitely a stand up company. -Glen

Regardless of what critics say, a dent in the outer case could easily displace internal baffles, leading to a noisy, rattling and less effective muffler - absolutely no reason to feel paranoid in expecting an undamaged one! ;)

Glad it all worked out OK.
