Any sources for a new NV4500?



I would like to get a price on a brand new NV4500 before rebuilding mine.



Is there any good sources to check the price with. I saw some on the web for about $1600 but was not familiar with these places - so pedigree is in question.



Does anyone have any reference prices for a new trans?

Since you really don't want that mainshaft/5th gear problem, I suggest calling 800-std-tran about their remanufactured trannies with the upgrades incorporated.

Do the "new" NV4500's still have the problem - as I remember the factory fix was just an updated nut??? So this was a bandaid instead of a bulletproof fix???

The factory has done a pretty good job addressing the 5th gear falling off problem but it's still only a half splined shaft that will wear and possibly strip under high torque loads.

I asked NV in Aug 2002 at the TDR Nationals. They said they hadn't changed because it wouldn't help all the trannies already out there
