Anyone know about cutting brakes?

Oops, looks like I'm about to light a candle on an oil and filter war. K&N vs (fill in the blank)

http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56040

Having prowled around the TDR for years, I just couldn't help myself from chiming in about K&N. Should I go forward with this campaign to change hearts and minds or just let it ride. Not my job to save a bunch of Ferraris?

No percentage in a crusade?

Rhetorical Question: How can one who is savvy enough to appreciate fine automobiles (and trucks) not base decisions which relate to the care and feeding of same on scientific research.

BTW, I have a different handle there but it's not difficult to figure which posts I made. :-laf

Does AFE or Scotty III have an application for a 308 GTS? All right then, a F50? Would you put a K&N on a $500k set of wheels?

Go get 'em. If nothing else, it would be a lot of fun, and you would watch these rich fools make themselves look bad.

Have fun!

Hey Justin, Did you catch the last response to my question: "Why?" (in response to the statement that some folks there , unlike me, FAVOR the K&N)

He said, "Wrong thread, do a search, blah, blah. " Wait a minute here, maybe I think YOU are the one who should do a search. Actually I did do a search: "KN air filters" - ain't squat. Few anectdotal posts. No science.

It is totally beyond my comprehension why some people spend serious $$$ on a vehicle then change something based on urban legends seemingly without considering that the engineers who designed the machinery might know what they're doing. (NV4500 excepted, of course) The old "more $$$ than brains" comes to mind.

All right then, as I've apparently been discouraged in condescending fashion from my sincere attempt to offer sound advice to a proud new owner of a Ferrari 308 gtb, I believe I will start a new thread over there in "Technical" where I will begin by posting a link to Spicer's ISO 5011 Evaluation of Air Filters. :-{}

Many of these gents are truly fun to banter with - intelligent, witty, articulate, not arrogant or condescending, however, there are exceptions to everything, no? I usually confine my activities to the "Other" fora.

Little do they (the Ferraristas) realize that there are more than a few fire-breathing Rams that are capable of blowing the Cavalino (little horse) off their grille and leaving a fine layer of soot on their Rosso Corsa (red paint) hoods.

Ok, speed sure isn't what it's all about and it's really apples and oranges. (some) Ferraris are exquisite pieces of machinery - 365 GTB and 365 GTC/4 come to mind - and if I had $50-$150k walkaround money (that the little lady didn't have another use for) I'd love to have one of those in my garage next to the CTD. IMO, the newer ones all look the same, like Vettes, Lexi, etc. , etc. - not interested. I know, I ain't got no taste.

I wouldn't put a K&N on my lawnmower and I know exactly why I wouldn't. To each his own.

That's true.

I picked up a little Italian while I was in Italy last summer. She was hot:-laf

What's with the price of Wix filters??

I purchased a Wix fuel filter for about $16 at an O'Reilly's. $30 for a Wix air filter. Maybe I should melt them down when I replace them and salvage the gold.

When I got back home from my trip I ordered a 4/2/1 from Geno's!

Hot or not, if it tastes poor it's probably spoiled.

Wix filters? I don't know, I just continue to be a lemming and buy from Geno's.

Did you know that K&N filters are so good that there's a guy who modded one to fit over the cooling fan of his PC. Not a speck of dust inside the box since.
