Greetings everyone......

Just reinstated my membership after a 9 year hiatus. I couldn't pass up a deal on a 2018 2500 reg cab. Im retired and have no plans to tow or haul anything but groceries........

This is my third rams cummins following a 99 3500 4x4, and a 05 3500 4x4 NV5600 rig. My username before was "macdaddy"....

I need help with wheels and tires for the thing.

Mac

Welcome back!
Sorry I can't help you on wheels and tires since I have a third gen truck.
If you have the time and our interested there will be a rally held this summer at Columbus IN for Cummins 100 year anniversary.
Look at the home page and you will find out more information on the event.

Thanks.....

Im already getting horrified reading some of the posts, lol. I see things haven't changed. Some of the reading here used to mind f@%& me on a regular basis. Im already dealing with an issue while shopping for wheel for the dam thing. I bought a set of KMC 18x9 grenades and mounted a set of michelin AT2's on them and discovered a wobble in the left rear. After removing all the wheels both stock and the KMC's it looks like either the rear axel or hub isn't true and created a vibration in my ass. The new wheels and tires are off now and the stockers are back on and you can't feel a thing and the wobble is barely noticeable.

Not really sure what to do about it now. Im thinking about mounting the 275/70R 18 AT2's on the stock wheels and skipping the drama at the dealer. Now clearly the offset on the grenades are too negative of a offset? I have no idea what the offset is on the new wheels.

Any ideas?

Im also looking for a diesel shop that I can take this thing too for some cool upgrades like carly suspension work, axel work (gearing) and other goodies. I don't really care what state their in as long as their in the western lower 48......

Have you tried to measure the run out on the rear hub to see if it is the rear hub?
Another thought is have you considered Centramatic tire balancers? I do not know if these would work or not with your issue. I do know several members on this site use them with great results. Just a suggestion!

Nah.....

Im out. Ive done this dance. I got burnt kinda. The price was great but I should have known. Lets face it the cummins sell these trucks not the rest of it.

Im listing it today on craigs.....

Wow, this is one of the craziest threads I've read on the TDR. I'm not "horrified" but am amazed about the quick turn on buying, upgrading, asking for help, and shutting down. This could be record. Wonder if he even test drove the truck before buying it.

BTW, Centramatics do work great, but OP will never find out.

and to the OP: Bye and lots of luck selling the truck.

Lol....
Yup I’m sure it sounds wild. But I do move fast. But there’s been a development. All these cool peeps have reinvigorated my desire to hang out at the dodge dealer and be frustrated and pissed....

This isn’t my first rodeo with arbitration, you’d be amazed how quick things happen when you figure out the process....

That being said? If you’ve got something on the cause of the vibration I’d be obliged.

OK, welcome back. Vibrations can difficult to isolate, but there's some pretty good equipment out there to isolate them. Tires, road surface, engine, driveline, can all combine to make vibration more complicated. I think it's a good move to let the dealer figure it out. Pls keep us posted on that progress.

I mentioned Centramatics as I like them on big tires. I still need to install them on my 2017 5500. I live down a quarter mile gravel road and my all traction tires pick up rocks like crazy, and enough of them can affect the balance until they turn loose. Not a good idea to follow too close behind until they do. Putting on the Centramatics helps negate half a pound of rocks in the tires.

Good luck,

Ron

Mac 1, I need some tutoring on the arbitration details as I am about to go there with my 2016 (new to me) 2500 which has a shudder in the trans/torque converter which the dealer says is just there and normal,(see my post above). I still have almost 2 years warantee left.

Hey mc long time.See Cjc in Belflower for the Carli and wheel tire suggestions. If they can make Harold happy you know they’re good

Hey bob.....

Yeah Harold and I are mixing it up again with these things. I heard your retired now?

And yes I’m sure I’ll be down there messing around at CJC with this thing. Never thought I’d be in another diesel.
