I am new to the cummins world. Just purchased an 02' quad cab 2500 4x4 with 66,000 miles. I've had it for 3 months and I love it. I have a question I just bought a mechanical boost guage, and electrical EGT and fuel pressure guage, I hear the presure guage is very important. Just wondering where to hook up the pressure sender for the pressure guage and the best spot to hook up the boost guage. I was told the intake plenum. Any help would be great.

I'd suggest replacing one of the banjo bolts with a tapped banjo like this. I put mine on the bottom of the fuel filter canister to get some distance from the pulses of the VP, but it's still post-filter so I can see the filter's health. From that you can run something like a 18" grease gun extension hose to the sender. You'll need to fab up something to mount the sender. To help take out some of the pulses from the VP, I also put an adjustable needle valve between the hose and the sender and shut it almost completely. It slows the reaction a bit, but the pulses won't beat the heck out of the sender. Be sure to use a diesel-proof sealant throughout (not teflon tape).

The quick way to tap into the intake would be with a boost fitting (Piers has em', as does Geno's and others). Basically, it's a drilled out bolt with 1/8" npt threads in the head. The bolt replaces one of the existing bolts in the top of the intake manifold in the head, then the capliary tube for the boost gauge threads into it.

You should go into user control pannel and fill in info for your truck so everybody can help you better , I just put gauges in my truck and every thing I needed including the instructions came with the my order , if you haven't ordered yet ask your favorite supplier , if none of the above then I was very happy with info service and the best price from extream diesel performance -Kyle , he addvertizes here.

I have a picture of where I mounted my pressure sender in my readers gallery and I hooked the grease gun hose directly to the schreder valve on the vp-44. No problems in almost 2 years. I did have to fab up a mount for the sender, but that isn't real hard.

RHillman, I used a "boost bolt" in place of one of the stock air plenum bolts. It has a 1/8" quick connect fitting for the hose that came with my boost gauge. I also used a tapped banjo bolt in the bottom of my fuel filter housing. Grease gun hose screws into that and on to a needle valve, then braided steel hose to the fuel pressure gauge. I drilled and tapped my exhaust manifold for the pyro. All 3 gauges are in my a-pillar. I have pics in my reader's rigs gallery if you need them. I just did my install if you have any questions.
