2003 Automatic trans

Bed length and wheelbase

I recently bought a 2001 2500 Cummins quad cab 4x4-Automatic 60,000 miles. I bought this truck from a lady( I know her personally) that used it to haul her horse trailer. I would like to add some performance options to it. My questions are, which fueling box is best, where is the best place to buy gauges, is there a reputeable garage near Batesville AR that deals primaryly with the Cummins, what is a safe boost presure on this truck, how do I know if my lift pump is working correctly, and can you add a fuel pump close to the fuel tank that would help the lift pump?

Welcome Stormrider, I will try and answer a few of your questions. I see you have the automatic. Until you mod the transmission I would just add a set of 275 injectors and stay away from the boxes. That will give you more power with the 24 valve and you should not blow up your automatic with this upgrade. Also if you do have a problem with the fuel system the dealer more than likely will not void your warranty because they can't tell you have the bigger injectors installed without taking them out and they won't do that. You have 40K more miles of warranty on the Cummins why void it until you are ready to spend the bucks on the transmission upgrade. Regarding your other questions I would suggest you learn to use the "Search" feature on this site. It works great and you will find tons of information. I will post an example of a search on one of your questions.

I'd say at a minimum, get a fuel pressure gauge if you are going to stay stock. any mods then also get egt and boost. with an auto transmission a trans temp gauge is a must. I like Geno's Garage for gauges and pods. Great customer service and good products.

Thanks for the suggestions. I kinda like the idea of the injector change. Since I'm new to all this stuff I'll probably ask some questions you've probably heard a 1000 times before. My first question is how do I know what size injector does what?Does the number equate to h. p. or does it mean something else entirely? I don't think I said what my diff. ratio was, but they are 4:10.

Many thanks to Pitbull. He e-mailed me a site that answered many if not all the questions I had running through my head. This is a killer site that I will probably wear out. Again thanks to everyone for all your input. ---Stormrider---
