Starting trouble

Test, Signature post.

I moved from New Hampshire to Boulder City NV about 5 years ago. I can't stand it here anymore. My big problem is I don't know where to move. I need a good rural setting with clean air, plenty of water and a relaxed life style. I'm going to take a look at Wyoming and Montana this summer. Help me out guys I need a little peace and quite and some decent friendly people.

Rich:confused:

I guess that rules out Denver, although we do have the Avs. Actually, I like it here. Best of luck in your search.

Boy, if I had my choice I would move to Montana or Wyoming. I was there two years ago and dream about fishing in those beautiful streams often. I will be there again next month. Can't wait...

Everyone is looking for something!

I retired and move to Eastern Oregon where people are friendly and wave at you with the first finger in the air:) We walk into a Pizza place and sit down and the waitress will bring two root beers without even asking. I live on 10acres and have neighbors that will loan anything they have but we only see each other a couple times a year as I give them their space. Depends on what you are looking for and what you expect. Sometimes it is difficult breaking into a new community. Small communities are not for everyone as shopping is several hours away etc.

Montana sounds a lot nicer than Nv.

Hope you locate the place you are looking for.

Rich. . retirement ???

the big sky country for me !! however some can't take the winters. . I go out in a snow storm in a tank top so no biggie , already have the plow LOL

just make sure you check out where ever you like in the winter and make sure it's tolerable for you and the misses

A few years ago I took a trip that started in Minnesota, went out to Idaho, and came back to Minnesota. Some of the most beautiful country I could imagine. I think some of the nicest areas were from Missoula, MT, down into Idaho through the Lola Pass, and on down the Snake River. Good luck to you. I'm actually looking for the same, but as I'm only 36, I have to find a place where I can earn a living.

Central Texas is very much like what you described, I have lived in a lot of places and I find this area to be one of the nicest I have been in. Housing is very reasonable and the people are very nice. Quite often you will see bicycles and power mowers left on the front yard over night and they are still there in the morning. I live within an hour of 4 big lakes and have almost in the front yard. The down side is the humidity in the summer. My wife is not bothered by it but I am.

Good Luck

If I had my "druthers" I'd "druther" live in Eastern Oregon. When I retire - in about 3 years - I will make the exodus. I also like Mt & Wy both are beautiful. Good Luck in your search.

Happy Trails

You just can't beat the Helena or Hamilton Montana areas for all that you are looking for. Mild winters and drop dead natural beauty. Absolutely fabulous people, attitudes and respect for individuality. Still somewhat affordable, but don't wait too long.

Been almost everywhere else as far as climate and people are concerned, and would not trade this place for all of them!
