Putting NV4500 and South Bend 13" Con OFE in the truck. All the stuff should be here so I can do it next weekend. Oo.

Anybody put one of the 13" clutches in yet?

I listed all the stuff coming out of the truck in the classifieds.
 
Yeah, but I couldn't find another type of 13" clutch for mine other than one from LUK and South Bend. The stock sachs clutches are strong, but I liked the design of the center in the new ones. I couldn't get anyone to explain to me why I had to get an "updated" flywheel to work with the new clutch since I already have a 13" clutch. I will compare when it gets in and see what the deal is. I believe it has to do with the size of the spring housing in the center, but you would think the center of a stock flywheel could just be cut to fit??????



How's the new turbo working Bill? I hope that is my next mod once I get the new transmission in.

Turbo is working good. I don't know if I'd go this big unless you have ALOT of fuel and big injectors. I'm thinking tax check instead of twins get a nv4500.
 
Got all the stuff in. I have to say the AA kit for installing the NV 4500 is pretty complete. I got it all done in one day. It took a while, but I feel it was worth it. The truck is much quiter, and I love the new clutch. There are only two things I don't like about the whole install. The stick for the later NV4500 (with the threaded stub) doesn't feel all that solid to me. It has a rubber insert in the base of the stick and well, it feels a little rubbery. The only other thing was the stock pilot bearing that comes with the clutch upgrade kit. I just thought a kit this expensive would come with a better pilot bearing. I am very impressed with the rest of the clutch kit and it works great. I highly recommend this kit. Smooth as silk engagement. I feel pretty certain I will be tearing into this to replace the pilot long before the clutch needs any service.
