Aluminum wheels-buffing?

What would it be worth?

You guys with the "W" models sure have a nice selaction of polished wheels which to choose from. I have heard nothing but bad news when trying to find a wheel for my D250. I can see experimenting with different wheels.

Yours look really good. I like the paint colors as well.

Hey BJ

Post us some bus picks bro!!

BTW, that is ONE HECK of a trailer to be pulling with that rig. WOW! Say man,You do any transmission work to that truck?? How about beefing up the rear springs some???? I just can't imagine subjecting my truck to that. Probably wouldn't make it to the next town. I'd bust up something for sure. I know these things are tough, but that tough??

Not working on any buses right now Scott. If you know of any decent ones with air conditioning though, let me know.

Truck seems to handle the load fine. The trailer is only about 15k or so loaded. I haven't done anyting to the suspension other than have the springs rearched once. It squats a little, but not too bad. I had to put a clutch in it not long ago and while I had the transmission out I checked the bearings and reshimmed it. It was a little loose.

The rear end seems to be holing up fine. The previous owner changed from 4. 11 to 3. 54's and put new bearings in then. They have about 150k on them now. I reshimmed it about 35k ago and the bearings looked fine.

Can't be any heavier then this load, Scotty.

I tow like this for probably 40,000 miles of the trucks 217,000 miles. I had to put a new r&p in the rear cause of a pinion failure about a year ago. The last couple of years the truck has only gotten about 10,000 miles a year on it, and 90% of it towing like this. The only reason I added the air lift bags was to keep the truck level loaded after lifting the front end. With the factory overloads it didn't need the air lift bags.

The 5ver would have to be alot more wind resistance.

EDIT- nice looking truck, thanks for sharing pics.

It definitely doesn't weigh that much. I'm guessing with the weight of that trailer you got there you are close to 20000. I've done that and it seems to handle it fine as long as the trailer brakes are working :)

The shape of my fiver makes it cut the wind fairly well, but it's still big. Crosswinds are a pain in the neck.

The trailer weighs 7000# empty, the 75 is about 5500# empty, and the 90 is probably around 6000# empty. Plus there was 1000# of suitcase weights, a dually 61F and 71 rear, a 205/727, and several tires and rims in the bed of the 75. Oh yeah the 93 weights in about 7500# in that pic. In that pic it was 28,000+#. Unfortunatly it that day had about a 30 mph head wind, and towing was pretty stressful. Had to really babysit the pyro. We got to where we were going unscathed.

I have never pulled a 5ver or a donkey cart(horse trailer). I always wondered what they pulled like. I always thought they had to pull pretty easy, beings a lot people use Fords to pull them.

I understand that they really help, but I don't tow that much outside of the southeast. Aside from our occasional thunderstorm and tornadoes, it's not too windy.

I also have to keep an eye on the pyro. It will cruise up most anything around here and hold 65 to 70 mph without getting hot. I'm hoping that a better turbo will give me some relief here though.
