Ford's in trouble now!

how about a real straight on picture of the engine compartment instead of this warm and fuzzy artsy crap :D or do they not wanna expose the whole cluster*uck at one time :-laf

That looks like crap... and the pictures don't help anything. WDixon is right. Save the creativity for art class.

the filter minder now has wires plugged into it?

heh, until the cutaway pictures, I couldn't figure out if them were really the turbo's on top :)

No, they took a Cummins, dressed it up in a cluster**** of wires, hoses, plastic, metal, so the Ford boys have something to look at. :D

yea that's really just a fancy cover, theres actually a 4bt under there with a sound system to make it sound like a crappy ford :-laf

The furd boy's wished... You know if I were in the market for a new truck and there was no such thing as a Cummins, just looking in that cluster F*** of a engine bay, I would turn around and walk away... If you where on the road and something happened, you couldn't even pop the hood and look for a problem in that mess of pipes, covers and wires, WTF!? why would you want a truck like that?

If you don't evolve, then you won't survive. Yeah. lots of wires, but I'm sure lots of folks said that when the VP pumps came in to play. Said again when the CR motors came out.

The new 6. 7 has a few more tubes and hoses and wires too.

Learn the system, then it won't be so complicated to you.

Remember how simple Windows 3. 1 was? And then you look at XP and you like "what's up with all this junk?" and today you don't give all that "junk" a second thought.

The common rail engines are a LOT "cleaner" looking than the VP pump engines in my opinion! I like the simplicity of the Cummins. I was skeptical of the common rail design at first, but have come to love my '03 (with the help of Bullydog!) as much as my '96. The look in the engine compartment is no more cluttered in the '03 than the '96 to me, just a different kind of clutter- wires instead of hoses and lines!

I prefer the inline 6 design now as much as always!

Yeah, the 6. 4 uses piezoelectric-actuated injectors and common-rail. Notice the injection pump is mounted at the BACK of the engine in the lifter valley. That places it well under the cowl.

I think the body will need to be removed for any engine service. Including oil changes and air filter changes. The guys at Jiffy Lube are going to have fits.
