yesterday i used my parkig brake wile parking down hill with a trailer. when i went to release it the light kept staying on. i looked at it tonight and nothing seemed to be in the way of the contact to the lever. well now thats not the leaste of my worries. my abs light came on now!!! i dont know how much they want in other citys to check the light but here the cheapest i have found is 65bucks just to see what the problem is. anyone with suggestions? :{

Mine did that for quite a while. . A little white lithium grease in the correct areas allowed the Ebrake pedal to move back far enough to disengage the switch and turn off the brake light. The ABS light is only lit because the brake light is stuck on. I drove around for a week like that, no issues. .

Lemme guess, in flat AZ, you dont use your Ebrake much. . I use mine everyday here in PA, land of mountians heh

You can ground out a terminal to see what ABS error code has been thrown. These are not the same as the ECM codes that you switch the key on and off for, and definitely not worth $65.

Yeah pretty much the truth lol. but i do us the a/c every day. just be happy that it isnt 102 degrees ther. :-laf

On my '97, there's a little black funny lookin plug- down and to the right of the steering wheel, mounted on the bottom lip of the dash, parallel to the floorboard. With the key on (and ABS light), ground out the black wire. You can just shove a jumper in and touch it to one of the screws or steel in the dash. Count the flashes of the ABS light INCLUDING the long one. It keeps flashing forever or until you disconnect the batteries. Somewhere on here I found the ABS codes, but if you post the number of flashes I can help you find them. Search for 'ABS code' but make sure its a '97 or earlier.

ABS speed sensor in differential is most common problem causing both lights to come on. Only $40 or so. Replace it, and if problem is fixed, the lights will reset themselves without having to reset the memory.

would the lights come on at the same time or would they do what they did with mine? (brake first and then abs light)?

:confused:

Ahopper, I had the same thing happen 2 months ago but I was driving at the time both of my lights went on. I pulled over and after checking around under and all over the truck I found it had blown a fuse. I'll check to make sure but I think it was the brake fuse. Well I changed the fuse and 10-15 miles down the road it blew again. When I got to my destination I chased the problem to a pinched & shorted wire up under the trailer that was blowing the fuse. It never happened before because I usually only pull this goose neck trailer around the ranch so I don't even hook up the plug but this time I had to take on the road in the rain. Don't know if this is what happened to you but it might save you some $$ if it is a shorted wire.

Good luck, Robert

I too had both lights come on while pulling a trailer. This happened while the truck was under warrenty so I took it to the dealer and it was a blown fuse. I kinda felt dumb. Try auto zone for a code reader. I think around here it is free.

can the rear weel sensor cause my transmition to shift different? today i have had problems with it not shifting untill 2500-2800rpms. if i nail it i can get past that. i wouldnt think it is the tansmition bc it only hase 7000 miles on it. i went to the dealer a ordered a sensor bc i was told they r normally the issue. o and by the way abs is deffinetly not working now ( i thought it might still work but i guess i was wrong today:eek: )

spent 70 bucks on the sensor and it didnt even work!!!! im so ******! does anyone have any other ideas? please?:confused: i grounded terminal 13 in the plug and it didnt flash at all!! im ready to give up and take it in.

This may sound strange but I had the same problem. Couldn't figure out what was causing it. Tried everything, replaced everything. No change.

I was cleaning up batteries in the engine compartment and had pulled the driver's side battery out. Cleaned up everything and was putting back. When I was putting the cables back on the pos batt post I noticed that that little blue wire all by itself was just pulling out of its connector at the terminal on the connector bolt. I took the time to cut it off, trim it down, put a new ring terminal on it and reconnect it. After tightening everything back down and firing up the truck to make sure all was well, lo an behold the Light was Out!!!! I went out on the road and checked the brakes stopping power just to make sure and the brakes were fine also. So..... I disconnected the blue wire and the light came back on, I connected it back up and it went out.....

I'm not completely sure why but that was my problem..... The "blue" wire... .

does anyone know. what would make the transmition hold out my rps so far? if i dont let off the throttle it wont shift!!?
