YIPEE! I finished the Dupont training course for LINE-X dealers. So, here we go... .

Xtra makes the liner a darker black, glossy, and will not fade, guaranteed. Xtra contains Dupont Kevlar Mico Pulp, which makes the liner stronger, more durable, more chemical resistant, stain resistant, and scratch resistant. Xtra is applied like a topcoat but migrates into the liner. Xtra does not affect the unique LINE-X texture (as a regular paint would do by causing "puddling"). Xtra is included in the LINE-X written nationwide lifetime warranty. Xtra works best when applied to a freshly sprayed bedliner, but can be applied to an already existing LINE-X bedliner. Existing liners need to be thoughly cleaned before Xtra can be applied. Black Xtra is available right now, colors will be available in a couple of months or so. At the training course, we sprayed a LINE-X liner and the Dupont rep sprayed in Xtra. After the Xtra dried (about 10 minutes), we took the truck outside in the sun to see what it looked like. I then asked the Dupont rep, "Will this bedliner always look just like this?" His enthusiastic reply was, "YES". I about peed in my britches. The liner was BEAUTIFUL. For those who already have LINE-X: Remember what it looked like when it was brand new; it had that sparkle in the texture? OK, picture that, a darker black, and glossy.

LINE-X will begin rolling out the advertising stuff and will post info in the LINE-X website about the end of this August.

On another note, the Dupont rep told us something that was very interesting. They found during their research that LINE-X had actually penetrated the OEM paint in some areas! That my friends is SUPER adhesion.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Rockers....

My Permatech dealer won't spray my rockers. I have a friend that found a Line-X dealer that will give a discount for multiple trucks. I guess I should wait for this new product to come out and try and get this guy to spray my rockers in a color.

What are the colors like? Can they be matched to any color or are there standard colors? The Line-X website says it can be sprayed in colors, but doesn't give any more details.

Xtra is only currently available in black. Xtra color coding will be available about November.

Right now, I spray color matches using Dupont Nason paint. We use the factory paint code to get the correct color. These liners will not fade. Nason works well and has been used for years. However, Xtra will be even better.

Do you have pictures to share? I have seen the Ram, 4X4, or some other designs in the bed. Does Line-X do designs?

We are spraying our first truck with Xtra today. It's a long bed Dodge. I take some pics, I have a film camera, so I'll have to scan them. Yes, we spray logos for FREE. This truck will not have a logo, though.

LINE-X Xtra can be applied to existing LINE-X bedliners. I'm not sure about the warranty for this type of application, I have to check on that.

6 months ago, the over the rail Line-X was $400 in Grants Pass Oregon. I might add that every dealer will not do the same quality job. Though the guy in Oregon was an ARROGANT S. O. B. , the job I had done in Chico Calif 4 years ago totally sucked. It was paper thin and pealed, which Line-X corp would NOT stand behind. Buyer beware, look at trucks that have been done at the location you are about to use.

Just curious to hear your input about these people

The owner claims the product they buy is the exact same Dupont product Line-X buys. I always thought Line-X had some sort of exclusive but maybe over the years that has run out.

The Xtra product sounds interesting.

I have the LineX Xtra in my bed as I am located about 3 miles from the LineX headquarters. Had it for over a month and the only real difference other then the color matching kicks *** is that I would say it takes about 3 days to cure rather then 1-2 for the standard LineX. A full size bed with Xtra over the rails should retail around $689.

No, No, No!!!!!!!!

LINE-X takes 4 seconds to dry and the chemicals totally cure overnight. If you apply Xtra, Xtra dries in TEN minutes. No LINE-X product takes 3 days to dry, period. Dupont and LINE-X developed this product. It is the very first of it's kind and is absolutely exclusive to LINE-X, promise!

EDIT: If you really have Xtra, then your truck is a test truck because colors won't be available until about November. I did see a test truck in a green Xtra at my training class.

wow,... ... ... i have a test truck then with a nifty "test" LineX Xtra tag then. Like I said, I am 3 miles from the LineX headquarters and they have been spraying this color matched stuff for about a year before they launched it nationally. I had 3 trucks done the same week last month and I am telling you the top layer of this XTra did not cure as fast as the other 2 standard LineX trucks did. 24 hours after it had been sprayed I put a large cardboard box in the back with my new SRT hood and upon removing the box it made a mark in the top layer. Maybe they didnt put enough hardener in the product. But I sure wouldnt go telling people to load up a skid in the back the next day cause since then I have loaded much more abrasive heavier objects and the Xtra has not shown any effect after it had some time to set.

I have been hesitant to get my rockers done because I would really like white, but don't want discoloration, and I don't want to risk chipping it off the surface and having the black show through. Will this Xtra stuff be available in white, and will it be as durable as the line-x itself?

cwbyinjeep: Man, that's awesome. You participated in the R&D! Most likely the final product is a little different than what you have. Dry times now are 6 to 10 minutes. One of the components is an accelerator which you can vary the amount you put in it. The more you put in, the faster it dries. The LINE-X chemicals totally cure in 24 hours.

thejeepdude: Some LINE-X dealers, like myself, spray color matches using Dupont Nason. Nason is a urthane automotive paint. It actually bonds with LINE-X. The dealer sprays a white pigmented liner (not a black liner) and then sprays it with Nason. It works well and has been used for years. However, I recommend you wait until November (or so) when Xtra will be available in colors. Nason is good, Xtra is better.

If you can find a LINE-X dealer to do it, give it a try. But, I'll never spray it on anything but a LINE-X bedliner, that's what it's formulated for. LINE-X (polyurethane and polyurea) is different than Rhino (100% polyurethane).
