"Proposed truck and bus rule could cost you money"

"the Cal air resource board is working on a state wide regulation that could cost you thousands of dollars per vehicle. The regulation would reduce the publics exposure to cancer causing diesel exhaust and other pollution from diesel engines".

Who will be affected::: existing trucks , buses, and other vehicles operating in Ca.

international , interstate, and intrastate vehicles.

Excludes most non-commercial private use vehicles.

What would it require??

Phase in starting dec 31,2010

replace with a newer vehicle,or cleaner engine or install exhaust retrofit devices.

I was told that this going to happen. . they dont care what we say. I was told that they are surveying to see who has what and how much its going to impact financially. I own a small asphalt maintenance co. and a few thousand dollar "retrofit" will HURT. To replace my truck will be finantually devastating. Call 1-866-634-3735 and state you opinion. it may keep them away from the small guys.

Frow what I understand they are going after the bigger companies IE Cal Tran's city's and state vehicles not the little guy . I have a good friend that works for Cal Tran's and he said they are not buying any more diesel powered pick/up trucks due to this comming out . they are trying to make thesesbigger companies lean twards gas due to better emission crud . I guess we will see

I bet if this thread was in the politics forum, it would light on fire.

Seems contradictory. They make it difficult to sell or buy biodiesel in cali, but they want less pollution at the same time.

Please pass the advil. .

CARB is and has been on a mission to eliminate diesel vehicles in the state. I really feel sorry for the construction and trucking companies who continue to try and operate on the left coast.

Lets just hope this type of legislation can stay contained within the borders or your state and not slither it's way across the country like it typically does.

Just ONE of the reasons we abandoned California in Favor of Oregon - but all states seem to line up to eventually follow California.

Yeah, we ALL want and appreciate "clean air" - but "wants" have to be moderated by REASON and common sense - after all, I may WANT a new Corvette - but it just isn't possible or practical at the moment. ;)

When elections roll around, and various political parties start spouting all their grand promises for a rosy future - just look at states like California and New York - run and controlled by LIBERAL thinking - then just ask yourself if you WANT more of the same... THEN, vote accordingly! ;)
