TDR Folks,

I just had my injection pump replaced under warranty (long story). Truck is a 99 w/manual trans. Once I got the truck home, I had to take a look at the new pump. So I pulled the APPS assembly to get a better look.

Not only is it a new VP44, it is a different VP44! It looks very different.

1) There is a heat-sink attached in front of the FPCM.

2) There are security torx bolts.

3) There are two bolts (?) in front of the FPCM heat sink. The top one looks to be a manual valve (the type you see in plumbing applications). The bottom doesn't have this valve, but looks to be a check valve of some sort. There appears to be a roller bearing inside. This worries me. It looks like a manual valve wasn't screwed in.

4) The wires coming from the FPCM to the pump are different, and are heavily insulated -- perhaps an attempt to foil the TSTs/Blue Chips/Edges of the world.

Could someone with a 2001+ take a look at the top of the pump and see if it is similar to what I described, particularly item 3. I'd like to verify that all the bolts are where they are supposed to be.

Thanks.

Craig I have a 2002 and everything looks like you describe it. The heat sink kinda looks like a star pattern. I hope this helps you.
