What I have wanted to do is purchase the pezio electric pulse machine from any of the major tool companies. That way I could set the timing, and check to see how far off it is. That and well... honestly... like you say it's not rocket science... Pop the gear, back the engine up... rotate it back where you want it... and recheck.

Has anyone done this method? I've done it once before when a buddy had the pezio machine.

Basically all it is... . It has a small clamp that goes on the number one injection line. From there it goes into a PFM box(pure friggin magic). On that box there is a loop for your Timing light. From there you take your timing light and use it like you normally would. Now to do that you need to have TDC marked on your balancer, but that's not a big deal. You just use the advance on your light to figure out where your timing is set. It's pretty slick, but the tool is almost $300. That's why I haven't invested in one yet.

I'll reply for Josh , since I've wanted to do the same , what that tool is ,is a electronic pickup adapter [ claps around the #1 injector line { this is where they can be off if you want more perfection than is needed ?? the varrance is in where you place the pickup on the line & the delay between that- where- and the distance the the injector } and turns the impulse that is sences into a electronic signal that you now hook up to a timing lite ] with that and a piece of degree tape , you can check your timing with out any disasembly .

The electionic devise? Snap-On, Matco, etc.

John, I don't know the exact name of it... but it's a Pezio electric sensor that goes to a processor that in turn gives your timing light something to read.

Just having a piece of reflective tape won't do you any good unless it is indexed to TDC.
