EGT's lower when accelerating than when holding...

Pretty Trick.

Sold my 02 truck. Great truck. Wanted an auto and a little less noise. Now the pain starts. I wanted to buy locally. Live in Stockton California and there are a lot of dealers in my area. Iam retired so I thought I take my time in my new purchase. My last truck was bought buy phone in Portland easy process. contacted eight dealerships on the internet. Not one dealer would order what I wanted. Now the pressure begins. For two weeks phone calls trying to sell what they have on their lots or what they have found. All the quotes are over invoce. no one mentioned the Farm Bureau discount. Most didnt devulge all of the rebates available. I visited two dealerships. Got the same treatment only worse. The pressure to buy something i didnt want was unbelievable. I didnt want to travel a long distance for a new truck purchase. Having failed locally I called Tommygun for a price. I was quoted a great price and was told they would order it ASAP equipped the way I wanted. A friend of mine lives in Nevada . He told me to try Carson Dodge. I made the call. I was able to build the truck on the phone. I have sent a deposit and the truck has been ordered. I wonder if Dodge knows how there dealers lie and try to pressure their customers? I saved 4500 over local dealer prices. Ordered 06 SLT 4x4 QC Auto. 34500. What an ordeal. G. Merkel. I feel better now. Oo.

Congrats!

If it doesn't work out I can reccomend a dealer that will sell for $300 under invoice (you keep the rebates/discounts). I live in Jackson (about 40 minutes from stockton) but ended up buying in Colma (near San Francisco) because of the deal.

Make sure your truck is CA certified. Even though the trucks are all the same from the factory I have heard horror stories about trying to bring a non CARB truck into CA.

Hope your truck comes soon!

Greg

With out the CARB sticker under the hood DMV won't allow you to reg it, and I believe they will require some sort of proof that it is out of the state. I bought my 06 from Dave Smith Motors in Kellog Idaho. Great deal and great people. Little bit of a drive, though. I'd buy there again. After it was all said and done I was like 1500 under invoice on the truck. And, they had exactly what I wanted sitting on the lot. Can't beat that!

I considered ordering an '06 and can't say enough for Richard Bowman @Dishman Dodge. A true gentleman and knowledgable fleet manager. Ca vehicles can be ordered through him @ $1,000 below invoice minus rebates and Farm Bureau(yes he'll inform you of it!) They'll pick you up at the airport if you fly and get you out of there fast(testimony of a neighbor and Dishman customer here in San Diego) He will fax you a copy. Ask for the Big Bob/TDR deal. This guy's the best!

Its not just the sales dept in Stockton. A kid at work had his 99s oil changed at a local oil joint and had them change the fuel filter. Anyway, the fuel system lost prime and they couldn't start it. The manager was stand up about it and payed to have it towed to the dealer and have the "pro's" fix it. They had the B***s to tell him he needed a new VP, ECM, and lift pump. I the couldn't take anymore and told him to tow the truck back to our shop. The dealer would not release the truck with out him paying them for their "Diagnosis" first.

After I got the truck to the our shop, we had it running within an hour. Just top filled the filter housing and bled the system.

The dealer apologized profusely and returned his money, But I cant help but wonder how many people fall for this type of Piracy and Theft. Or if they would have actually pulled good parts and charged the $4500. 00 estimated cost of repairs? Shameful!!!!

I bought mine in Roseville, CA for about 3% below invoice. My friend ordered an 06 that is due in any day now and got the same deal.

I ordered exactly what I wanted and so did my friend

Send a pm if you want the info

Jay

It sounds like you know what you want and what price they should be willing to sell for so you're already way better off than most people who go into a dealership.

I think the best way to buy any vehicle is to go in knowing what you'll pay for it and just offer that to them. If they want to sell the truck, the'll take your offer and if not, you can keep looking.

What makes you think they would actually pull the parts in the first place??

This might be a stupid question but I have heard about the farm discount but could someone explain it more in detail to me. I plan on a new truck purchase in the spring.

Hope everything goes well for you with Carson Dodge. I bought my last two trucks there from Charlie Gillies. He's been there for about 11 years or so now. Don't find that very often. Both sales were easy and low pressure. The last truck (in my sig) I called and searched all over the west coast and they still got the best price. They also have a huge on site inventory if you are an impulse buyer! :-laf

Go to your Farm Bureau office, tell them you're buying a new Dodge, they will give you a coupon. Present this coupon to the dealer when you make your purchase. It is good for an additional $500 rebate.

That is not always the case. Our local dealer lost his right to sell Chrysler products because he had that mind set that he could treat his customers anyway he chose. Wrong!! He was forced to sell his dealerships because of his business practices. Now we have to deal with Lithia.

That would be a good $35 spent to get $465 back! Also, anything that helps with farming and ranching is a good thing. If ya can't mine it, ya have to grow it!

I read on the vw TDI club about a loop hole in the Cal rules about buying out of state cars and trucks. If you driving your old junker out of Cal and it breaks down, and the cost to repair it exceeds the value of the vehicle, you are allowed to replace it out of state. I would check on this first if it was me :) but it could be true
