04....04.5? Whats up with that

Sounds like an exhaust brake

Hello all, i just signed up for the great site yesterday. what a lot of info! i just got a 2006 ram 2500 4x4 with 11,500 miles on it. i am at 14,000 now. i plan at 15k to replace the front and rear diff covers with the Mag-hytec covers and using royal purple in the diffs and t case. i am also going to be changing the oil for the frist time (first time for me) and fuel filter. here are my questions

when should i go with synthetic oil?

what is a good non-syn oil?

any filters you guy LOVE out there?

i plan on doing the oil every 3000. but if go syn when should i?

and here is the big one! when i got the truck the prev owner installed a Edge with Juice computer. i love the info it tells me, but im not in to the race settings etc. i use the milage and stock settings. i was a service advisor at a jeep dealer so i know how the chrysler Warrenty stuff works. but what about dodge? i talked to the local dealer and they said dont do ANY THING till after 100k? how can an exhaust void the warrenty on the motor? isnt there an aftermarket parts law for consumers? id love to get a better intake, exhaust etc, to get more power, and milage. how does something that works better then stock void the warrenty?

any help would rock guys, thanks alot and cant wait to get me threads goin!

I would second the Fleetguard filters, I use them whenever I can.
As far as synthetic oils, I cant comment, I just use Premium Blue and change every 3-5k.
The Edge box, depends on the dealer, if you do a search you will find virtually every experience possible, some dealers will only void warranty if a part downstream of the Edge goes out, some void it all together... the simple of it is once you BOMB it, you are your own warranty.

2006 stuff

My first advise is get a Geno's catalog ( you can find a link on this site) they sell first rate stuff for our trucks and that were I get my filters.

Your oil question is a hot topic of debate on this site you can find lots of threads on the subject. My advice is if you can find CI-4 oil left use it, it becoming harder and hard to find. Some walmarts still have some Rottella Syn. CI-4 left as far as I am concerned that the best stuff you can get. I have not decide what to do when my supply runs out.

Hope this helps

Joe
