Well your opinion does not offend me. After all if we all thought correctly, which is like me, this word would be a very boring place seeing all these lifted trucks on 37s with gears and no engine mods. Shoot, then my truck wouldn't stand out as much, or be an eye sore to people of your opinion. It takes all kinds to make the word go around, and I don't consider it bashing one bit. But yes i do enjoy lifts and larger tires, but hey it's my wife's money, I shall spend t how I see fit hahaha.

Whoa, now... I was just saying it was not my thing for big lift, but I was being sincere about you building your diesel your way. My diesel may not have any lift (yet or for now), but I'm not wholly against suspension.

I totally agree and understand what you typed about 37s, no gears or engine mods. Prior to my current Ram 2500 I built two Toyotas, a V8 4Runner and a 2011 Tundra. Both have suspension mods, skid plates, sliders, bumpers, ARB lockers and 4.88:1 gears with only 33" tires. I hate doggy performance, and living at altitude, around mountains, and with frequent wind, I love lower gearing in modern trucks that are generally geared too tall for me (really wish I could have got a SRW truck with 3.73:1 instead of 3.42:1, but think I can live with it for now).

With the G56, you can modify your truck as you wish and not worry about if the transmission needs reprogramming. With an automatic, you might mess up how smooth your ride is because the automatic is programmed for stock build specs

What percent of RAM get a manual transmission. So they will most likely drop it completely like GM and Ford.

Pretty simple just use 5th it's the same RPM as run ing 6th with 4:10's. With the Aisin the load gets rolling easily even with the 3:42's.

But what is the point of a six speed than?
A lot of guys want to go to larger tires, 35s and 37s are really popular....RAM should offer the 4.10s from the factory for SRW and let the dealers reprogram the computers to keep the speedo correct.... I have 4.10s in my 2016 dually and it pulls like a ox

Let me take a few more wacks at that horse. I haven't put a chip in my truck and neither has the OP. Unless he did (put in a chip) and didn't tell us. So i believe all warrantees are still in full effect.
I 'm fine with the reduced torque/HP.

It's still not the same as a lower ring and pinion. In addition to what EGroeneveld said, obviously none of the other gears are going to be lower either, and most importantly, you lose the mechanical advantage (i.e. torque multiplication) in ALL gears that a lower gear ratio provides.

RAM has made it pretty clear that they have no interest in other gears for the 2500 and 3500 SRW for several years. So go buy a GM, they come in only 3.73 gears and have so for many years. SNOKING

Well I'm the one who bought the truck. I really don't have much of an issue with the 4.32 gears. Now when I put bigger tires on it I will do it right and aim at keeping 3.42 or 3.73 "like" operation so I will re gear. For me if I got 4.10 and threw on 37s I'd probably re gear anyways, so the gear decision for me was irrevelant.

Agreed! I know we are in the minority, but regardless of any cost or reliability arguments, I much prefer to shift/drive my own Turbo Diesel instead of the other way around. No issue with folks liking it the other way, it's just not even close to the same experience with an A/T for me.

I've owned four turbo-diesel pickups since 1993, three Dodge/Cummins one Ford/7.3L T444E. My '95 Dodge was ordered with an A/T and 3.54:1 gears, a big mistake, I hated it... Luckily the truck was a 'lemon' and Chrysler bought it back.
