OK guys Please no teenager BAshing this time. I have this GOD awful rattle somewhere in the glove box area. Figured it was junk in the glove box. Put all of it in the center console. Still have the dang noise. Pull glove box out and put it on backseat. Still have rattle in same place.  But now it sounds like it is coming from passenger side front floor molding. It only does this when the truck is between 50 & 55 right around the TC lock -up time or a major bump(if any of you have been to Louisiana you know our road system is one BIG BUMP). It was pouring down rain when I pulled over and pulled the glove Box OUT!!! It was that LOUD!!! Any Ideas those wiser than myself. Has any one had that side of the dash apart and think they know what it could be?

Thanks!!

Passenger side dash

Behind the glove box there isn't really anything that seems like it should rattle. Just above the glove box is the passenger side air bag. About the only other thing that gets mounted up in there is the Infinity amplifier, if you have that sound system.

How about making sure that the speakers are still secured in the dash?

Is the noise constant, or come and go?

I had an awful creek in my dash area also. Took it to dealership and they couldnt find it. Finally figured out it is dirt particles that get down in between part of housing and stick shift for transfer case.

box of rags or kleenex's with you in the pass. seat on a long ride. justnstart shimming things up ! and noXCX the kleenex's aint for tears... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

I know this sounds crazy. But I had my wife ride in the passenger seat B/c she doesn't like driving the monster. She swore it was coming from the door. Undid the whole lower part of the dash up until the driver's side. Put it all back together. Got in same noise.

WTF???? Finally, told wife you gotta drive. I got in passenger seat put head on the floor had her set cruise at 50 mph. FOUND IT!!!

THE damn jack had come loose. Now XCX can laugh and put his cry babies.

Yeah,

I work in the oilfield. Everything that goes wrong is worst possible thing. So if a motor doesn't start it usually has a connecting rod hanging out of it. If a well doesn't flow someone dropped a wrench in it. I am WEARING MY SIGN. Please don't FLOG me I might LIKE IT!!!

Mine also has developed a rattle coming from the same vicinity. Although I have not yet tried to fix it, I am SURE it is my passenger-side tow mirror. I thing the mounting bolts have probably loosened up or something. Also, it seems like I remember a post about a similar rattle which ended up being the passenger-side mirror. I've searched the TDR forums but haven't been able to find the post.

Do you have the tow mirrors? Does it do it all the time, or mainly when the mirrors are in the tow position?

No it was the jack. I hardly ever tow but I have had the mirrors out no PROBLEM. I would check the jack first. Ohhh and dont try riding upside down in a moving vehicle. it HURTS

I had a simular rattle that my wife finally tracked down on a long ride. It was the plastic cover to the side mirror, which is just above the door panel. The dealer replaced the whole mirror. (folding power)

JARichard... I laughed my a** off at your comment... I thought this kind of stuff only happened to me! Thanks for the chuckle...

A real shake down cruise for a new vehicle would be to run from Slidell to New Orleans and back a couple times on Hwy 10. That will jar ANYTHING loose. Worst paved road I have EVER driven. I would love to own a business in the area that sold shocks. That loose jack would probably bounce up and make dents in the overhead...
