I don't remember seeing this on the forum and just read in the current (August ) issue of Consumer Reports that there is a recall on 4.5 million FCA vehicles, including 2014 to 2018 2500/3500 trucks. The recall is for the cruise control unit. CR states that a driver may not be able to cancel the cruise control and then they go on to say it can be cancelled by applying the brakes. So I believe it's an electrical gremlin with the button on the steering wheel.

What to do? Says avoid using cruise until your vehicle is equipped with upgraded software. I've had no problem canceling mine. But good to know not to trust it when approching a car from behind.

Well I guess you can still order a 3500 with a gas engine. 410 HP 6.4. Went on the website for Ram to answer my question. Now need to ask the dealer or wait for the recall notice if it is going to affect my truck. The CR article did not specify that is was gasers only. Still need to get two more recalls done as it is. I have only been interested in a diesel rig for the past 14 years and never considered a gas rig for my needs. Curious now how the gas power plants are working out.

Check on the Ram website to see if your truck is recalled. It does appear to only be gasoline powered vehicles as Kirwin said.

If your vehicle has the rare set of circumstances to cause the failure you cannot disengage the cruise until you put the vehicle in park. Stepping on the brake pedal will not disengage it as it should. You can put it in neutral and bring the vehicle to a stop and then put it in park.
