The recent expansion of this recall now includes the same two-door refrigerators, manufactured between June 2003 and September 2006.
To find out if your refrigerator falls within either of the recalls, enter the model and 8-digit serial number of your Dometic refrigerator below.

No, no! Thank you for posting it initially. Otherwise I would have never known they expanded the recall since I now have a unit that may be affected.

That page doesn't say, but if I recall it had something to do with the venting of the heat source being messed up and causing some fires and/or a fire hazard.

Thanks for the update... I went to the sight and found that mine is on the list... I guess I'll be careful on the way home from the beach and get it fixed before my next outing...

from what i understand from the first recall was that the electric heating element used to heat the ammonia up to make it flow to cool the fridge sometimes burns through the boiler tube causing the ammonia to leak . if you use the gas burner on the fridge while the ammonia is leaking , it could ignite and cause a fire . i just got mine done and it looked like they basically just installed some heat shields and a safety switch to cut the fridge off if it senses too much heat . i have heard of one camper burning in my area before getting the recall and another one burning through the boiler tube and leaking out all the ammonia ( luckily didn't burn ) .

Check the threads on RV.net regarding the recall. The heater is supposed to have 44OHM resistence +- 10%. Mine had 38. One guy thought the heater being out of spec may be partial cause of the failures. Heating up too much. Also some of the heaters had too high of wattage.

Thanks

Thanks you guys for the update. I had checked my fridge on the original recall, and it came back good. But on this new, updated recall, it came back bad. Having it repaired tomorrow. I really appreciate the post on this. We use our fiver pretty often, so who knows, you may have saved us from a fire. Bruce

I almost didn't renew my membership this year. However, after reading this thread and checking my fridge, it needs the repair, my membership has more than paid for itself for the rest of my life. Thank you MLee for the posting, no telling what you have done for me and my family.

i had my recall done about 3 weeks ago and dealer didn't install the fuse link that is supposed to shut the fridge off if it does burn through the boiler tube . while i was on vacation , mine began spewing amonia and i had to replace the cooling unit . luckily , i was in my fiver when it happened and i shut it off immediately . make sure you make the dealer show you what they did and ask to see the fuse link when you have the recall done .
