Hey all,
I wanted a remote start system for my 2017 Laramie, like my 2011 Mega Cab LongHorn had. So I did a lot of research and the one thing that everyone said was that the new key fob's will replace the old ones. and the old ones will become inoperable/useless.
Well, I had the new OEM remote start system installed today. The service guy gave me all 4 key fobs (2 new and 2 originals) and again pointed out that the old ones will no longer work.
When I got home, I tried the old key fobs and guess what, I now have 4 key fobs that will lock - unlock - start the truck. Obviously the originals will not remote start it. But I can remote start then even use the old fob to unlock and bring the ignition to the operational condition..
So, what am I missing? Why are the old ones working?
Jason
