Well,

Where to start??? Got tired of those fuel prices and the '95 Dodge Ram V10, don't get me wrong, good engine, lots of power NOW, and can tow...

So anyway, just got a '95, 2500, CC, Auto, 4X4. I'm new to BIG squeeze, but understand the basic principals.

I can see it has at least a 4" exhaust all the way back, 5" at the tail pipe.

Things I know I should find the money for are;

1. guages

2. air filter kit

3. transmission pressure kit

4. and names on the list for the KDP jig

I'm not out to build a big bad bit*h, just a nice rig to tow during the summer and a good reliable, daily transportation.

So to my questions to the crew...

besides the aforementioned, are there any other SHOULD fix/get items?

Thanks for any thoughts and suggestions...

airacer25,

Welcome to TDR land! Many happy miles on #2 to you.

Yep, you got the right stuff on the list, but I would do the kdp before driving it much.

I recommend a TST 3kGSK or 4kGSK kit. Will really make you smile!

Then a #10 plate. Injectors can come later.

 after driving having my (old) truck for 2 & 1/2 years with a 3K GSK I can't imagine driving another one without it.

However I've never driven an automatic CTD pre/post GSK so I don't know how well they work with them?

It makes a huge differnce.

This may sound like a dumb ?? but what is the diference between the 3k gsp and the 4K gsk? When would I want one over the other?

DBrickel,

There is no such thing as a dumb question!!!

The P7100 pump in our trucks comes from the factory with the governor set to begun "defueling" at a specified rpm (different rpm's for different combos like year built, auto or stick, fed or California). Both the 3kGSK & the 4kGSK will raise the rpm at which defueling begins, obviously with the 4k kit a higher rpm.

On early 2nd gen trucks the 4kGSK can be installed without worrying too much about the rpm getting high enough to make the valves start to float (because the valve springs aren't strong enough at that rpm to close the vavle fast enough). On later model 2nd gens the P7100 is a higher output pump so adding the 4kGSK can cause the valves to float, therefore heavier valve springs are a necessity when the 4kGSK is installed. In most trucks with lots of mods the heavier valve springs are needed with the 3kGSK also.

So, to answer your question, it depends on what you have and what you want it to do!! If I were you I would order a 4kGSK kit from TST and you can make it either a 3k or 4k kit depending on the springs you install. If you want the 3k kit now just install those springs and then when you are ready for the 4k kit add the other 2 springs.
