2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission New Rocker Panels and Wood Flat bed

Hi,I have 1995 2500 Auto 285000 miles and plan on keeping. It has rotten Rocker palels,cracked dash and rust comming through rear finders.My plan this summer is to replace the Rocker Panels and dash then make a flat bed (metal frame)with Black Locust deck.Has anyone experance with Black Locust for the bed materialRMcKinney in Ky.

I know that people used black locust for fence posts which lasted for years. So it should make a tough bed.

I don't know what kind of locust trees we have around here. We cut one down years ago. The stump has not rotted at all.

Thanks for the replys.Black Locust lumber is not to common here is western Ky but i have a son that lives in Ashville NC where it is commom,As soon as i get a price ill list it.R McKinney
