Hey Joe doesn't Sachs make a heavy duty direct replacement clutch if so what is your opinion of it and what do you think it will hold. I have been sitting on the fence on this clutch thing for some time now (OK too long) but I'm still not convinced that the daily derivability is there for me. I have raced many types of clutch dependent vehicles and I know what towing with a race clutch will be like. You want to here a good one Joe I took some power out of Ravishing Red so the stock clutch will hold for now. Oh know what did I do I admitted taking away POWER!

DQ, I haven't checked but I doubt the Sachs will fit onto the McLeod flywheel. There are shops who can bore out your flywheel for a different pilot bearing if you don't like either the stock needle bearing or an oilite bronze bushing. South Bend carries a composite bushing and the Mitchells (Enterprise Engine) bore out flywheels for a big truck sealed roller bearing.

I have found that two things profoundly affect life of the bearing or bushing: (1) proper alignment of the transmission to the crankshaft; (2) driving habits, i. e. how long you hold the clutch down at lights, etc.

Blair, Sachs offers the stock clutch for the 89-93 Ram diesel, and that is what my clutch man starts with. They offer the LuK, I believe, if you specify a clutch for the 94-up Ram. I am not aware of any HD Sachs that is based on the 1989-93 original equipment unit.

Blair--YOU TOOK POWER AWAY FROM YOUR POOR LITTLE RAM #ad
How outrageous, and horrible to treat your faithful Ram in such a cavalier fashion. #ad
Give it back its fuel IMMEDIATELY and add some extra for your punishment and to slake the Ram's thirst. #ad
#ad
I know you've been dreaming about those 370 injectors. Go ahead, get a clutch too. Your Ram will faithfully pull your new trailer if you are good to it. #ad

OK, sounds good. Now, where do we/who do we contact to order the Sachs clutch or the the JD Mod. Sachs?

Joe Donnelly is the one you contact to order & purchase a modified Sachs clutch from. I bought mine from him, see my review on the clutch elsewhere on this Forum (D. R. E. clutch installed by Enterprise Engine). Give Joe a call, you won't regret it.

Very funny, Blair, these trucks are a money pit! Open the hood and shovel more money in , close the hood, repeat process next payday. Don't blame poor 'ol Joe, we're lucky he went to all this trouble to come up with a clutch for us. I keep getting a picture in my head of you opening the hood of your truck, and Joe is in the engine compartment, like a jack-in-the-box, with his hand held out for you to put the $$$ in. #ad

Clutch update: Doing fine! Burning tread off them expensive Michelins, though.

Oh yeah? I can't fit under Blair's hood with that twin scam on the engine #ad

Sickly has been costing me beaucoupbucks lately. First he is complaining he wants a new clutch too. Now he wants more fuel because he is thirsty [he says it is to test out the latest clutch ideas]. So, the clutch man, Bosch, etc. are getting rich. I gotta get stock in the companies. I'm working on Stage 7, 8, 9, and 10 injectors for Sickly. Hopefully it will feel good again, like it used to long ago before he got so sickly #ad

A while ago I said Sickly had to get to 600 hp on diesel only. Might not make it, but contributions are welcome. Lessee, 12 valves x 50 hp per valve = 600 hp. OK, that works for me #ad
I'd hate to stop at a sickly 550 hp #ad

Joe, May be it's time for a second injection pump, or just a 12 cylinder injection pump, and 6 more injectors> LOL

12 Valve and 12 injectors

No, the overvalved have to use a different equation: 50 hp / 24 valves

ya see, their hp is over(the)valves #ad

I haven't found a 12 cylinder pump for the right price, yet. Darn, I'd have to relocate the fuel filter to use it #ad
Maybe I'll just try bigger barrels first. My P pump is disgustingly stock and Sickly is whimpering for more fuel.
