I just installed a set of seats out of a 2001 Ram in my 1996 CTD. They are the leather ones with the seat belts in the seat. The wire harness on my truck has just two leads, hot and ground. The seats, however, have 9!! The newer seats have heat, driver power, etc. I located the hot and ground easily and the driver power seat works fine. However, the seatbelts need a combination of power and suplimental restraint signals to release. Apparently, they take power and a signal from the airbags and maybe the ABS system before they will release. I talked to the dealership for this info. Anybody out there have any experience with this type of seat swap? Looking for info on how to adapt the wiring on my older truck to get the belts to work. Maybe buy a harness from a 2001 truck from a dismatler? Any idea if the signals from the Airbag and ABS system will be correct for those seat belts, i. e. the same from 1996 to 2001?
