I put the Rancho 5000 steering damper and my new Bilstein shocks on this past weekend and I have to agree others that have done the same. WOW! I don't have to get my fillings checked or worry that my thumbs will break going over a speed-bump in the parking lots!
I noticed the steering right away since the driveway at my dad's is dirt/gravel and has lots of potholes. Also, he has a nice new 30'x60' shop which made it really easy to work on in there.
It was even better the next day after I got the shocks on!! The girlfriend thought I was insane when I bought them. Now she's glad I put them on since she's 8 months pregnant and has a bladder the size of a grape. Still bounces good once in a while, but WAY better ride now.
I do have one tip for anyone replacing the steering damper. Use an air hammer if you have one!!Oo. I spent an hour beating the nut to death with no results. Took all of 10 seconds with the air hammer.
My thanks to everyone who posted their views on the various shock related threads. Excellent resource. Oo. Oo.
