Sorry, Jack. I know nothing about the black and silver Bilsteins. Are they intended for off-road use? They might be worth a try.

I think if I wanted more rebound control at the rear on a dually with the large unsprung weight of the big heavy axle and four wheels and tires I would look into having a good welder and fabricator build a four shock mount and install two pair of Bilsteins on the rear.

Initially I was going to put KYB shocks on my truck, but ended up ordering the silver/black Bilsteins from Summit Racing Equipment. Havent installed them yet, still waiting on the UPS driver!

Contrary to what was ssumed the Silver\Black and Yellow\Blue shocks are distinctly different shcokc designs. The 5100's are a performance mono tube design with valving specific for the application, better rebounding damping, and more resistant to fade when they heat. The Yellow\Blue are just a better 2 tube design and are not a performance shock. For normal daily use on decent roads the Yellow\Blue work fine. For HD use on heavy loads and rough roads the 5100 is the better shock. If you can't get them to last then stepping up to the remote reservoir shocks is the next choice.

The 5100's are not unbreakable, you can trash them in a short time on rough roads and bad springs or warped rotors. Extreme use will eating the valving on them to the point they are not much better than a stocker. Specifically, if you are using leveling pucks instead of springs or you have problems with sagging springs they won't last.

Both Rough Country and Sky Jacker make a front dual shock kit that uses the Bilstein 5125 shocks for extreme situations. They probably have a solution for rears also but the front is much more susceptible to damage from the weight.
