Do you guys know something? Isn't the 68RFE (based off the 48RE and to be built in Kokomo USA) going to be the six speed for our trucks?

the 68RFE is from Kokomo and will begin production in oct. a very good source in product development engineering (not the local union paper for the bashers) has recently told me the trans is a diesel only unit to replace the 48re. he said it was stout and tested around the 1000 lb ft mark. now I did not ask but since it is being built in the ITP 1 plant. I assume it is a closer match to the 58rfe that is now in use , in half ton trucks and hemis. so with that I am going to say boys the chassis cab may have the non american unit. when the 2500-3500 trucks get the 6spd auto it will. :) nice for us american workers

How come it is always the unions? Anyone see what American Airlines did to thier pilots a couple of years ago. They got them to agree to paycuts then gave themselves bonuses after the concessions were made. How bout GM and their executives? I am a B. L. E. T ( Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen ) member and Union Pacific is always cutting our throats while they live the high life. Union Pacific has around 20 of the highest paid executives in the country, talk about doing less than assembly workers. The fat is at the top not at the bottom fellas.

Sorry to hijack the thread I am off my soapbox now, please continue.

Un-fourtunitly it is another forgine country manufacturer. They may or may not make good transmissions, but I would think that they could be made just as good here in the USA. I am not very political, but I am dam tired of everything we use coming from some other place other then the USA. Our trade deficit is getting to the point of ridicules, we depend on others for everything. What happened to the USA that was looked up too by all other nations? It's not just this transmission, it's everything. The automotive builders have relocated to mexico, not for a better build, but for a lower cost. Every time we buy something made anywhere else but here, we lower our standard and raise theres. Manufacturing jobs are good paying jobs, and they are disappearing like clean air. I do not write this for me, I am set and retired, but for others like my son and his son's, what will be left for them?

I feel better now, thanks

Unfortunately Dodge is a German Owned, Mexican Made truck. Honda is closer to a american made than is any mopar product

The skilled labor jobs are going out of the country because the wages are lower and the labor pool for replacemnt workers is also shrinking. the younger people are not intersted in the crafts anymore. I do turbine outages as a TA and the Millwrights, Welders, Electrictions, Riggers are getting older and there are not many apprentices or helpers to replace them when they retire. I am sure the other industries have the same problem in the future the short term problems are going to be small compared to the long term problems.

Looking at the web site provided. I would say that DC has hooked up with some great company! Some very will known customers use there products, which should indicate some good quality control, and proformance from their products. I am ready to get one!

As long as D/C doesn't force them to build to their weak kneed specs.

As far as the products coming from across our borders... . flame me if you like but the money paid to union members in the auto industry is the problem. Guys making $35/hr to do simple assembly line work is insane. While it may provide a decent "living wage" it is way out of whack for the actual work done. We are about to witness GM file bankruptcy based on the exhorbinant union wage and benefit packages. They brought it on themselves by agreeing to it but that doesn't make it right, and it certainly is no way to remain competitive.

For you guys that insist American made is the only way to go, would you pay and extra $5-10K for the same truck, just to see it built 100% in the US? Some might claim the would but if Ford and GM didn't change and offerred competitive products for that much less..... DC would be the one in trouble.

you are showing you not well informed my good man. no my fellow line workers do not make 35 an hour,26 and change. that is fact. you would be real suprised if I told you how much dc builds the 48re from start to finish for. I will only say 100 percent profit is not even close its more like 1000. I guess I should take less so the guy they call plant mangr. could make 3 million next year not 2. by the way if you do the math I will never make that much money in 30 years, and I work 56 or more hrs a week :( . so I would try and inform myself a little before trying to blame another. the ceo of toyota does not make that kind of money. I will drop off my soap box because this topic is not the place.

Very good point! Our American CEO's do seem to build in exorbitant compensation packages for themselves. How much money do you need to live on,when rank and file workers are taking cuts or getting laid off? "Enough said, now back to our regularly scheduled program. "
