Got the 1-2-1 shift hunt tsb done on my truck and with my transmission shifting like it should again I loaded the smarty jr up.

First tried out setting 1. Noticed a power gain but most of all noticed the more linear delivery of the power. This was by far the best part of the upgrade in my opinion. I have yet to find a place where I get that big lag. It responds more like a gas motor at low rpm which is nice. Real nice. Also saw an improved mpg but this was on the overhead. I still need to hand calculate and see but on the overhead on a trip from Houston to Dallas running 75mph the overhead was showing 21. 8 at the end of the trip. Assuming that's accurate (or at least no further distorted than it is under the stock flash), that's over 1. 5mpg better than last time I made a similar run (empty). Stopped by the deer camp to pick up my trailer and 4 wheeler and drag them back home. Now this was a light load but but on setting 1 I saw a real increase in mpg here (again, based on the overhead).

Tried setting 3. Obviously a noticeable power gain. Didn't leave it on this setting long. My truck will probably not see the 100hp setting very often going forward. I bought this primarily for setting 1 and am very happy with that.

This also enabled the high idle which was nice.

I had read in one thread that smarty jr would turn off the back up alarm. Well I found out yesterday while backing my trailer into the garage that it didn't. Anyone have a Jr and had the backing alarm disabled by it?

All in all, good product and I'm happy.

thanks for the comments.

I did confirm with Marco that the back up horn tsb is unrelated to any ecm programming so the smarty has no effect on the option.

I've had the Smarty Jr for a little over 5 weeks now.

I haven't even tried the 100 hp setting (level 3), it can roast the tires on setting 2.

I'm waiting for dry pavement before I try the 100hp setting anyway.

I'll be taking a roadtrip (DM, IA to Mesa, AZ) in March 2008. I will put reprogram to the economy setting (level 1). Last year when I made the trip (unassisted by Smarty Jr), my truck averaged 19mpg. I'm hoping for better than that this time.

I do indeed enjoy the Smarty Jr. Just have to save up for more tires now. :)

I just towed with the JR and was quite happy. But on the way home it was low on power but my air cleaner was full of snow. I was just driving down the highway but it was very windy and there was some snow on the highway. I just picked up my guages from the post office today. If I had them in I'm sure I would have noticed a problem. Low power and smoke led me to believe the air filter was plugged. A buddy tried it out in his '05 and he liked it better than his Juice, more power and lower egts.

The back up alarm is not mandatory! Someone fed you a line. I had mine to the dealer last week and they showed me on the computer that it is a separate flash. Now maybe if you were having a problem it may also be bundled in with the latest up dates too.

Now to get around the goofy back up alarm you can do a couple things, hook up your center seat belt into the drivers seat belt or maybe splice the electric lines that go to the switch in the seat belt to make it think that your seat belt is hooked up al the time but do this at your own risc.

Is this power braking or just taking off from a stop?

I have stock size tires and will for awhile. So just giving it some pedal from a stop it will spin them? Will the regular smarty do that?I am not looking for 800 hp but being able to spin the tires w/o powerbraking would be cool.

some throttle you just be off quick but if you stomp it to the floor they will spin pretty good. since my tires are 200 a pop I've had to adjust my driving style. simply put the Jr will put a smile on your face.

Just from a stop. The big white Ram Dually made me do it. :)

Sometimes I still act like a teenager. :)

It surprised the snot out of me, and gave me a grin at the same time.

ps. tires on truck: 265/70 17 BFG Rugged Trail (23k on them). Didn't have to powerbrake.
