I went to the Mads site and looked. New software for S-06 and JR dated 11/14/08, but no explanation at all. Just says "new update available"

The quote from the "News" tab reads:

Nov. 14, 2008 - Software update

Smarty S06 and Smarty JR: New update available

Marco, please explain the new updates...

Thanks,

Louis

The new updates for the Smarty jr are added selection for timing and torque managment. I loaded it into mine and it is a nice addition. I now run the first setting with max fuel timing and the least amount of torque managment. Made a big difference in my truck to get rid of the torque managment. with the 6 spd, just about time when the fuel really kicked in, I was ready to shift. I went to LA and got 20. 6mpg hand calc.

I keep waiting for the lower smoke programs. The new cam helped smoke a lot, but I still would like a "smokeless program".

With the stock cam, I got a lot of smoke at any smarty level with timing, even #1 with the least aggressive timing. This was low end smoke and would be a problem with normal driving around town. Without timing, low end smoke was stock (unless I swat the throttle). With higher hp levels I get more smoke on top end - more smoke with more hp. The new cam helped the low end in-town/daily driving smoke a lot, but its still quiet bad at 75% or more throttle on levels 7 and 9. I have been very dissappiont with the smarty for this reason. Everything else is just awesome. Bob said there be improvements, but I'm still waiting.

Oh yeah, I only run stock rail pressure and TM.

The new software updates on mads website dated 11-15-2008 are only for updates incorportated by Dodge/Chrysler 2006 & 2007 dodge cummins.

The Revo for Sr. and Jr. have been out for about three weeks.

Of course the Dodge/Chrysler updates had to be included in the Revo so that's why the new software dated 11-15-2008.

Any time a new update from Dodge/Chrysler comes out mads incorporates them into their software to keep everything updated/current. This does not mean any of the mads software has changed, just Dodge/Chrysler updates has changed.

I'am currently trying to find out what the new Dodge/Chrysler updates are for in another thread.

Can you let us know what these new Chrysler updates are about.

What do they fix/break.

Thanks

Dennis

Seems to be a mystery. Questions have been asked (even mads) but no ones talking yet. If/when I find out I'll pass them along or maybe someone will chime in first.

Do I understand this right that;

once the smarty and the truck is updated

We can not go back to an older version that does not contain the chrysler update?

Your truck will have the new dodge updates when you go back to stock if your smarty was updated with the new dodge software.

To update your smarty with an older version you can get the files from some one who saved them on their pc or contact bob wagner.

I guess I didn't state it very clearly.

for example, I update the smarty and my truck to 11-17-08 software

this will install the latest Chrysler updates into the truck.

(I have all the older updates on my computer)

Now lets say I want to install an software version from 1 year ago.

Can I load the older version into the smarty, and if that will work will the truck accept it, (being that it has an older Crysler update in it

Is this possible?

OR will the latest Crysler update still be in the ECM?

Clear as mud?

Dennis

Dennis , If you update to the newest smarty jr software you can not go back to an earlier version software.

This update is for customers that had their software updated at the dealer and were locked out from using their smarty until Marco made the revision.

No need for you to update.

Bob

What software do I need to download to get rid of all the smoke?

Bob, I have the latest REVO software and I have too much smoke with good air improvements. I have seen plenty of post here form others with the same issue. Somewhere in the past you mentioned ya'll where working on this. If I can't expect some improvement at some point in the future, I'll just need to find something else for power. Some smoke at WOT is OK but I feather the throttle some just getting on the interstate if someone is behind me. Otherwise, I am embarrassed. Fortunately, I don't live in commi-fornia, but those guys risk big problems if they go around blow clouds of smoke.
