Just got my new clutch put in today. Went pretty well since it was my third time doing this. I am very impressed with the engagment and smoothness of this clutch. Perfect engagment height, very light pedal and smooth as can be. I am glad I decided to put this in now, had been planning to wait for a while yet, but was getting fed up with it slipping all the time. Now I am thinking about a set of DD11's, anyone know of a good place to buy a set cheap, or have a used set for sale? I don't want to spend alot of money now, but now that I have the clutch it sure would be fun to have a little more power. My cousin thinks his Duramax is even with mine as far as power, but I would like to put the odds far into my favor. It is his mistake for trading off his Cummins and I want to show him what he is missing.

South Bend Clutch is the only way to go. :p

South Bend

Thank's for the info. I will be odering mine from South Bend soon.

Have heard only good things about them. How was the install?

Any problems?

I paid someone to put my South Bend O-Fe in last week. All went fine. A little more grabby than stock but it should go away as it breaks in. It holds all the power!

Install was easy

As long as you have a good transmission jack you won't have any problems. It is 200 pounds so you don't want to drop it on yourself. The first time I used a floor jack to put it back in but that was a emergency clutch job. Since it is fresh in my mind here are the steps

remove shifter from inside of truck.

remove skid plates.

remove both drive shafts.

unplug vacuum hoses, vent hose, and reverse switch.

unhook transfer case linkage.

place jack under transmission.

remove mount from under transfer.

jack transmission up tight to floor.

remove 8 bolts that hold crossmember in.

tap crossmember upwards to release from tapered fit, tap backwards to slide down out of frame.

tape over output seal of transfer case to keep oil in.

remove 6 bolts that hold transfer case and remove.

remove 4 bolts that hold transmission on and remove.

remove slave cylnder.

remove bell housing

remove clutch.

remove flywheel.

and as most repair manuals say, "assembly is reverse of disassembly"

Clutch R&R

Tony,

Thank you for the detailed R&R instructions that will be a big help.

I have a transmission jack as well as a buddy with a lift so I sould have no problem with the install. Which clutch did you go with and how do you like it? I'm not sure how far I want to go (power wise) in the future so I'm up in the air about how much clutch to put under my truck.

HOSS:confused:
