new speakers sound bad/ WHY?

i put new door speakers in my 93
stock were bad, have affm cass best opt
available in 93 , but new door speakers sound bad, low volume on drovers side, i dont
think wires are shorted, back 2 work great
is there a ohm problem, any ones changed worked out well?

Check if your door speakers were 8 Ohm or 4 Ohm. Normally if the mains are 4 Ohm and you added a couple of 8 Ohm speakers the sound will be very low.

Also check that you might have a poor ground or switched leads with the poor sounding ones.

The reply from cooker had a good point in speaker polarity. Speakers work by pushing air and if one side's polarity is reversed, then that side will pull while the other side pushs, hard to build pressure (sound) when you're pushing into a vacuum. Kinda wierd, but it makes for mushy, low vol. sound. Check it out and good luck.
