cool!!

Great idea. Have you seen any manifold or charger wraps? A insulating blanket that will help to use more heat from the exhaust. Let us know how it works.

I have a dumb question. . Would this contain the heat from the turbo causing it to be that much hotter? I thought that air moving around the turbo would help cool it down...

Hard to imagine, but most of a turbo's cooling comes from the exhaust & intake. Outside air accounts for very little cooling effect. As been said, in some cases, the turbo housing is insulated to increase its efficiency. But maybe more importantly to maintain a constant housing temperature. Not to mention heat under the hood.

As you know, fluctuating temps cause expansion and contraction.

A turbo used in a constant environment such as a jet engine or generator... . will last almost forever. The constant heat up and cool down effect seen by a vehicle motor is hardest on its lifespan.

ordered

Larry,

I ordered the shield from you website... Supposed to get it on the 24th. Looks like a good product.

I sure did like the paypal method of paying and the tracking # from UPS.

I am guilty of ordering a product then wondering and watching for it. This automatic UPS tracker you use, great.

Doubleclutch

. Say, about that avitar- it's not an RV, is it?

Naw, it's a KR2. I built it in the late 80s. Put 500hrs on it. Now it's in the basement.

Thanks for the kind words,

Got Mine!!

Got the Turbo shield on the 24th. Just like the UPS tracking said I would.

Couldn't find my 8-32 tap so had to wait until today for the hardware store to open.

Got it put on . . probably took about 30 minutes. Only 20deg in garage. Sure does look nice and it's gotta help.

Used a Harbor Freight battery powered drill. Took off the hose on the turbo. I have the BHAF.

Gather up a 8-32 tap,#29drillbit,5/16 nut driver to remove hose from Turbo, electric drill, small cresent or?? to turn the tap and a #2 Phillips screwdriver.

Thanks Larry

Some observations

Now for the shield:

I drove the 15 miles round trip to town. . Shot the breeze and then drove home. EGT's were around 800deg

pulling a hill on the freeway. Got home shut down at 300deg. I could put my hand on the shield. . It was hot but I could hold my hand on it. Now that's gotta be helping on the air temp into the AirCleaner.

Wish I had a temp probe that I could use to measure the temp. . before and after shield, but I don't so I guess as one of the other members says"without data you just have an opinion. "
