Finally pulled the trigger today. Been talking to SunCoast and ordered new 68rfe. Will travel there mid May and have them install it. Will be hauling our 5er there and park on coast while replacement takes place. Factory 68 has done me well.

Picked up my RAM this evening after the complete install of Suncoast 68RFE towing transmission with triple clutch converter. The drive back to the RV park went well. While sitting in the rental car parking lot I tuned my Smarty to 130HP tune. Has done well so far.

I was curious as to how long your original 68 lasted. If you don't mind sharing, I was also wondering what it cost to replace it. I plan on racking up some miles when I retire and want to put the trans replacement cost into my retirement budget!

I have had not one minute of trouble with the 68. It always changed gears well. I never abused it. I always paddle shifted it when towing. I wanted a bullet proof transmission. It has lasted 10 years.

Have now travelled from Fort Walton Beach to Glacier and the new transmission is doing great. Running the Smarty on 130 and 90HP it has done great towing heavy. The 90HP with turbo turned up to #4 is giving best EGTs and mileage.

Did they recommend a triple disc convertor? How much tighter is it compared to the OEM setup?
