New Tailshaft Housing Seal Part Number

I was going to change out the seal in my tailshaft housing. Like a number of you, I have been through a few of these seals. While it was a warranty item, I was going to try another seal on my own, to see if that solved the problem. I ended up getting the part number from my local dealer. The part number has been superseded and NAPA does not have the new seal in their system yet. Sounds to me like a different/better seal. The old part number was 4741119. The new number is 4531216. I'm going to get mine changed out next week. I hope this one lasts.

Sounds like you might have a bad yoke. After this was replaced on my 98. 5, the seal has not leaked for 32k miles.

Roger that Grady. I'm going to insist that they check the yoke when I take it in for seal replacement.
