Got the new TDR Mag and that 2nd generation 24Valve section is huge  Took me hours to get through all of the information and articles. For all you other 2nd generation owners that have not gotten the new TDR yet, boy do you have a surprise waiting. :-laf

Just wondering did the 2nd generation staff quit or was 95% of that section lost at the printers? Maybe they are saving all of the articles up for the next publication, so we can have say 2 whole pages dedicated to the 2nd generation trucks :p What do the rest of you 2nd generation owners think? Are we getting the short end of the stick now that the 3rd generation trucks are out? If I was a 2nd generation owner and did not have access to the Internet, so I could take advantage of all of the fine information that this web site provides I think I would cancel my subscription. I noticed the same thing! Iwent through three times thinking I was missiing something. Maybe I'll see if there are missing pages. Boy, i'm staring to feel like an orphan. :(

Yep, hope this doesn't keep up! :( Between the 12V and 2003 HPCR 24V stuff, there wasn't much meat in the thing for me. Heck, I was so desperate, I almost read the Earthroamer stuff...

My thoughts exactly. It took me longer to thumb through the pages than read the 2nd Gen stuff!:(

Maybe next edition we'll get the rest!:p

:D

Oh, that's nothing--us poor 1st genners get that treatment all the time! Trying to find a vendor who sells anything for the 1st gens anymore is an exercise in frustration at best...

Mike

Maybe you guys just received the latest mag by mistake without the upgraded 2nd gen edition. They could be sending out another section in the mail. When I get mine I'll check and see if there's more pages.

I guess while I am questioning things here is another??? This Sam Memmolo that sold his CTD for a Maxipad and still writes for the TDR??? Whats with that? I read his column and I read about his new partner Dave McBride, now he sounds like the guy that needs to be writing the column. McBride is the director of training for Cummins South in Atlanta where the TDR is headquartered. He also sounds like he has more credentials than Sam and he has to know more about the Cummins. If I was running this thing I would hook up with McBride and dump Sam.

Well there's always...

I missed the 24V info as well, but I can always count on the "Look at what we bought now" column to make up for it. That's information I can always use.

Oh well, maybe next time they'll make it up.

Jumping ship

Whats with all the rats jumping ship. When becoming a TDR member didn't the Pledge go something like

"I pledge allegiance to TDR and the Cummins Turbo Diesel. That I may look but not sway from the path. "

Garrett

I don't think anyone's jumping ship (yet, at least). Just commenting on the lack of meaningful 2nd generation 24 valve content in Issue 40.

Last night was reading a Thread with previous CTD owners who had gone over to the darkside. Was a good read. Then read the Mag again last night after Pit Bull post.

Sorry for the drama, just fresh in the mind.

TDR mag

This rat ain't jumpin' nowhere. The TDR mag is a tremendous resource for CTD owners. Absolutely tremendous.

However, what I value most is information that will help me keep my truck runnin' better, faster and longer. Everything else is just fluff. Sorry to be so one dimensional but that's what I want out of a technical publication.

I read Earthroamer's stuff 'cause it is good feedback on how some of the mods work in real life. It's the kind of thing I'm looking for.

When it gets right down to it though, I learn more here on the web site than I do from the magazine. More voices chiming in and that much more experience from those many voices. Near instantaneous response and help with problems is worth a small fortune IMHO. In short, less fluff and more stuff here!

And I'm still campaigning for a CD containing a snapshot of the TDR web site threads and archives to be made available. Will it ever happen?

If nothing else I suggest that the TDR editors reprint threads of some of the more hot topics in the 24 valve section of the mag if they're lacking input from other, more traditional sources. Always good readin' there. The thread on the dynamic tire balancing with beads is worth everyone's attention and should be reprinted in some form IMHO.

Tim

I agree with all that is said, the 24 valvers got shafted on the last issue. but wasn't it like this for the first genner's when the 24 valve stepped to the plate? Its the newest thing, it'll wear off and we'll all be a happy family again. Its like a new baby, everyone loves the baby... until its time to change that first stinky diaper!

Can the complete archive be burned onto a single DVD?
