New to Ram, new to Diesel. Just bought a 2017 Tradesman 2500 CTD....Upgraded from a my 2nd Ford F150( I had 2 with bad Cam Phasers)....swore I would never buy a RAM, but now you couldn't pay me to own a Ford. Very happy with my CTD, but there sure seems to be alot to know about these engines. Please be patient with this noob. One question....Why do so many seem to hate Rams so much? They are everywhere, towing pretty much everything!

Welcome to family! Dodge Rams were not that good thru the Eighties, until the CTD was introduced. The first gen platform tooling was worn out by the time the second gen was introduced in 94, which caused a lot of body panel issues. I was,*and still am a Dodge Ram fan, and have owned several generations to include a 92 Dakota. Besides the drive train, the older 1st gen platform had issues, and that generated some bad opinions. Also Chevy and Ford had better looking trucks thru the early years, in my opinion. I was so excited about the new 94 (2nd gen) Dodge Ram, I traded in my low mileage and barely two year old Dakota for a 94 2500HD 360 gasser. I couldn't afford the CTD until my 04.5 CTD. Again welcome to the family.*

I've seen a lot of the hate too, I'd even say 20+ years ago I would've turned my nose up at the thought of driving a Dodge having been a Ford guy...until I bought a 7.3 powerstroke. That POS converted me to cummins pretty quickly and I've never looked back. I've convinced a few just by handing them my keys for a test drive...then they see the light.
