So, with my previous post about my Nitto tires, it's obvious I need to get some new ones. I'm looking for 315/70-17 or 35x12. 50-17 E rated tires. What are the options? Toyo MT's? Is that it? How is the wear on the MT's?

I'm on my second set of Mastercraft Courser AT's. I got 41K out of the first set and am approaching 30K on this set, with about 1/3 tread remaining. Although other tires I've owned are somewhat smoother, never got the life out of em. I would recommend these to anyone, especially being around $130 each. Look good too. james

I have the 35" Toyo M/T's and I love them.

I have about 26K on them or so and will get 35K or a bit more. They are quiet and wear is good, just kinda spendy to purchase.

I will be buying another set when the time comes.

I have mickey thomps b-mtz and do not recommend these. at the first rotation

3k miles I had to replace 2 tires due to cracks to the belt/cord in the tire. the material is softer in my opinion. I did have pro-comp xtreme at and I put over 50k miles on this tire and served me as well as a mud rated tire. hope this helps. .

I've got to second those Pro-Comp Extreme AT's... Tried a lot of different tires thru the years... recently had a foot of snow, and this truck went places that stranded a bunch of other car/trucks... . they looked at me passing, and driving around stuck cars/trucks,... and just shook their head !!!!

first set of toyo MT's went 42k and had more to go but snow hit hard this year so i changed them with another set of toyo's. won't be trying anything else.

Im on my 5th set of tires @ 80K miles now and so far these toyos are my favorite. Ive had the 295 nittos 285 goods allterains some cheap 265 pirelis and of course the stock tires the truck came with

i think interco makes some too, i got 33x12. 5x16 in an E rated. only have about 300 miles on them, but so far so good, and they hold up the truck much better than the D i had previously.

I've thought about toyo m/t's cuz they are E rated... not sure if I want the m/t, cost, or no mileage warranty, though.

I've been thinking about the BFG A/T 315/70/17 or Yokohaha A/T's. Both are rated at D, but have a load capacity of 3195lb. My truck is an 01 2500, so... . the combined rating would be 12,800lb if I went with the D rating. The BFG's have a 3-ply side, which I think would help on stability.

Mainly, my truck is used unloaded, but... . when it is loaded, it has a 2K camper and 8K trailer w/ my Bronco on it.

Thoughts????

my thoughts are this: why take off E rated tires and put D rated tires on ? there are reasons to that truck having E rated tires... ... my . 02

The reason the truck comes with E rated is because they are so small. A bigger tire holds more air so the PSI doesn't have to be as high. It's ok to go down to D with a bigger tire.

you need to do some research if you think air pressure has anything to do with load range. you can put high air pressures in less adequate tires but that don't make them the same strength as the E rated tire. besides if that was the case you'd buy light car tires and add max air pressures too huh?

Alright... . here's some more I found on E rated 35's

Interco Vortrac - $230/tire Worried about mileage?

Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip - $275/tire Mileage/noise?

Toyo M/T's - $325/tire Cost/noise/mileage?

I've seen a few recommendations for the Toyo's, but man they are expensive. Anyone else running the new Interco's or PJ's?

I am wondering how a 35" tire will look on a stock aluminum rim. I am NOT a fan of bubbly looking tires, so width is an issue. Anyone have pics of their 35s on stock rims? I am interested in BFG A/Ts and Pro-Comp Extreme A/Ts. Thanks.

Do you need the extra sidewall strength for when you scrub the curbs or what? Sounds like you are saying the thicker sidewall is what is holding the weight or the truck up? Not really, the thicker sidewall is needed to contain the higher air pressure needed in a smaller tire. Lower your E rated tires to 10 PSI and let me know how that sidewall holds up.
