New tires - Bad Body Roll

I just put on my 3rd set of Michelin LTX A/S at 154,000 miles. I didn't experience this with the second set, but now I have terrible body roll in corners and it feels like nothing I've ever felt. I know the tires are taller now as the old tires were almost to the wear bars, but this is crazy. I came home tonight and looked at the front stabilizer bushings, control arm bushing and shock mounts and everything is visually good. I was hit from the side with a dust devil at 75MPH tonight and thought I was going to lose it.



Has anyone else been through this?

I have 60 Pounds in the tires but it feels like 15 in turns.

I run 65 psi all the way around on my Toyo 285/75/17 E and they are nice and solid in corners. Did the same thing with last set of Michelin AT2 265/75/17. . also nice and solid in corners. Maybe try going up to 65 psi and see how it feels??

Discount tire had 80 PSI in them when I left the store and drove though the mountain pass home. It was just as bad then before I dropped them to 60 PSI. Maybe just the fact that the are new and haven't been baked hard by the heat yet... . ?

Well then can you see on the sidewall that they are E rated... could it be that the sold you E, but installed D's?? Just guessing here... my Michekins have ALWAYS been great handling tires and I have run alot of the on all my vehicles.

the same thing happens to me when i get new tires. The more the tread wears down, the less body roll you will get so just hang in there

I had Toyo AT's installed at Dave Smith when it was brand new. Zero tire squirm with my slide in on the truck camper. I'm on my second set with no squirm issues again.

I ordered some Michelins thru Sam's Club when they showed up I went by to have them

installed and tire did not look my old tires. They where Michelin LTX M&S. So they balanced them and I went on my way. The next day I went back because the balancing was bad. When I walked in the lady in charge of the dept. told me that they had put the wrong tires on my truck. They had the similuar name but one was a heavier side wall and about $20. 00 more per tire. They had to reorder my tires because the other guy was given mine. There was a big difference in turning and sway. the side wall has the same name but one has Michelin LTX close together the other has Michelin LTX separated.

both "E" rated one 65 or 70 psi the other 80 psi. check them out you may have got the lite wall. the weight loading was also different. But they are the best tire I have every

tried. mud, sand and thorns delux in south Texas.

Dave. ,thanks for the PM... you were right about these Toyos ... even on an 8000# truck, at 65 psi they were wearing faster in the center then at the edges... dropped em down to 55, the ride is a little nicer and she still tracks nice and straight, no squirm on turns. Oo.

Funny, I noticed the same thing, I run mine at 55 PSI also. If I need to tow i bump them back up, but for normal driving I leave them down. I think the OEM wheels are just a tad narrow for these tires, unless there is a load on them they wear in the center of the tire. Noticed it mostly in the rear where it was lightest.
