I am about to replace the tires on my 93 Ram 350 ext cab. The truck has 215/85/R16 tires. Because i am running a 4:10 rear gear I would like to go to a larger diameter tire. I planned on using 235/85/R16 but the people at the tire shop claim I will have trouble with the tires on the rear, to little clearance between them. Before I spend this much money(all six tires) I would like to know if anyone else is running this set-up and if you have had any problems

Just sneaking over to your side. I have a 96 and run the 235/85 and they fit well. Widths do vary by brand. Michelin LTX or XPS seem to run a bit narrower than some other brands. I also run them at 75 in the back to make sure they don't rub.

I got it

I have 235/85/16 all around my 92 and have no proplem loaded or un loaded. What kind of tirers are you getting?? I have goodyear workhorse extra grip tires all arouns mine and the front ones are cuffing bad. The tires have 15,000 miles on them, the back are good. I had it allined with about 3000 on on them. What kind of tires for a dually have people have good luck with and still have good mud and snow traction?? Thanks Justin

I have Firestone 235/85/R16 M+S, Load range E. Has 32. 1" diam which gave me a nice 10% change in ratio to the road. They're good for 80psi and I have them at 70psi. No problems here. :)

I went to tire manufacturer web sites to find the tires with the highest profiles. Firestones were not the only ones but they were available at my tire dealer.

Don't forget, your speedo will read lower than your actual road speed. Same for odometer reading.
