Ok what rpm is desired for idle??? Are all gsk kit considered equal, I ordered the 3000gsk from TST are they just as good as the dynomite diesel's that are 25 bucks more?? What is the desired water temp?? At 70mph what rpm should I be running if I have 355 gears??? I'm sure I will have more questions soon thanks Wesley

  1. Idle speed, 750-800 rpm, manual in neutral with AC on, auto in drive with AC on.
  2. The GSK from TST will work great.
  3. Coolant temp will swing from @160* to 190* and back constantly. This is normal.
  4. With standard size tires it should run @2K rpm at 70mph.

Welcome to the Properly Valved side of the Force. ;)

Good cause I thought maybe the thermastate was out so that is good... . The only thing is the heater doesnt blow to warm. . I think the heater core is bad or clogged, cause when I first turn the heater on you can hear like water swushing sound and the air only blows barely warm... Is there any adjustments on the steering gear box cause this thing has a little slop all the drag link ends and tie rod ends are tight. Also what rpm will I be running at 70 if I have 410 gearing?? I am also looking at the DSS... Thanks Wes

Where is Industry Tx? I might be moving to Austin to work at a speed shop. I really hate winter after 36 years of it.

On the water temp issue: Although I understand and accept that there is no maintenance/reliability/MTBF issues around the "normal" temperature swing of the original thermostat design, I was annoyed by not being able to set a constant temperature from either the A/C or heater, due to the water temp running up & down all day long. Therefore, I swapped out my thermostat with the update one from cummins (p/n escapes me at the moment) and that one holds a steady 195* regardless of load and hill country. :-laf Thermostats are pretty cheap and easy to change and now I set the temp where I want it and it stays there. Oo.

On the front end "wander": look up Solid Steel. biz. They've got some great stuff for tightening up the front end. I've got the track bar conversion and the lower control arm kit from them and am implementing my own version of the DSS because I already have most of it existing as part of the rear skid-plate mount on my bumper.

I know what you mean about the heater not blow out warm air. It's been down to -6 here. I finally pulled the ac clutch relay from the pdc and run my heater in AC Max to recirculate inside air, it made about 40 degs difference. I did not think that heater could be so warm. First time since this truck came from the factory that the heater worked right. Looks like it modify time on the AC heater controls.
