New to me(1998) problem

I just Bought a 1998 3500 drw, 2wd, 12 valve used from a person I did not know. Info I have on the truck is that it was in an accident causing the left front wheel to almost rip off, no body damage. Wheel was repaired and truck drives great. Engine sounds great, coolant looks good, oil is clean, transmission shifts fine, body is mint, interior is clean has 49k on it. Now the only problem is I noticed the oil pan was replaced and now may be leaking. I have an appointment to have a dump body installed two days from now. How hard is it to repair a leaking oil pan seal? Does engine need removal, should I be worried about this engine, what possible could have been done to it if the pan was removed? The reason I asked is I may cancel the body until I know more about this problem.

The easiest way to get the oil pan off is to take out the transmission and engine adapter. The you can unbolt the pan, and carefully slide it out. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just have a good look at all the mating surfaces between the pan & block. Make sure it is in good shape.

Hey Evan!

Will the method you described for pulling the engine oil pan, that is, from underneath after removing transmission and transmission adapter, work on a first generation also. I will be pulling my transmission soon to repair a leak and would like to install a new set of bearings at the same time.
