Okay, I am going on Wednesday to pick up my new 3500 4X4 5speed 12valve. The truck is immaculate and has only 76000miles. My question is what do I do first? I know the truck has a new steering box which should help, and new brakes. I plan on installing a #10 plate, 370's, and all the necessary gauges to go with. What else, trying to be around 350-400rwhp. I have seen the 3kgsk and 4kgsk, which is better? I know the 3rd gens pretty well, but this will be my first 12valve to play with. Any ideas or tips will be GREATLY appreciated!!! Oo. Oo.

KEEP ON TRUCKIN'

Kill the KDP and 5th gear nut first off. I've heard a 3k GSK works good with the #10 plate. You'll need to upgrade the turbo (probably), BHAF, and free up the exhaust.

Interesting as my 97 had the steering box replaced as well, never really heard this to be a problem.

You will love it, had mine only a week and its great.

370s, 10 or 11 plate, 3 or 4k gsk, straight pipe, 16 housing, timing to 15. 5 and a BHAF or AFE should put you well over 400 RWHP of course you will need a clutch behind all of that.

with my current setup im making 432 horse!!! make sure to also advance your timing while your modifying that p-pump! sounds like an awesome truck! post some pictures when you get it!

I don't understand how to change to timing. Like I said, I don't know much at all. What will be a good clutch to run? I know alot of the pullers are running double discs, but I don't need a pulling truck.

Thanks again!

For idea on how to change the timing check out the 12 valve FAQ section at the top of the main 12 valve forum. It has alot of info on whats involved in changing the timing.
