Flooding update

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Any pellet gun shooters?

Zero turn mowers are the dragsters of mowing for sure. I had to take the Scag in for service and had to borrow a regular rider mower for a while. It was painfully slow and cumbersome to use.

I found this decal on fleabay. My wife hates it

When I grow up, I want 2 things. 1st, the worlds fastest lawn mower. A 36hp 72in Dixie Chopper. 2nd, a yard big enough and flat enough to use it. It's advertised as mowing almost 7 acres per hr. I don't even know anyone who can mow 7 acres of hay in an hr. much less lawn.

Thats definitely crazy fast. Mine is rated at just over 4 acres per hour, dang near half of the Dixie. The 36HP engine option in the Dixie Chopper is the same Vanguard engine in my Scag. The owner had had it listed at 34HP but the manual I downloaded lists it at 35HP. I know Briggs's reputation for reliability isnt what it used to be but it seems just about every manufacturer is using this Vanguard on their top tier mowers.

I think the Briggs, Honda etc stuff mounted on big box store mowers and garden equipment is specifically made for HD and Lowes....... cheap. Before I bought the Scag, I only bought JD mowers from an actual JD dealer. I remember them telling (selling) me that the big box stores had these el cheapo products made just for them to target home owners for light duty use.

Commercial mowers aren't cheap. Don't remember exactly, but my 2009 48" Scag was a tad over $8k new. But since 09, I would have eaten (3) $4-5K JD riders, so I'm money ahead and I'm 100% confident that it will run for many more years trouble free. And once the engine craps, it will be cost effective to replace the motor and continue to use the same mower.
