I now have a 2006 Quad Cab, see signature line.

I haven't been active the last couple of years but plan to start reading the forums again.

My son now has my 2001. 5, still going strong.

Is the Jacobs exhaust brake approved for use on auto trans '06 trucks? I have that on my 6 speed 2001 and have always liked it.

Yes, the Jacobs brake is fully integrated when installed on an '06 auto. There are vacuum pump issues with them though. Lots have failed, sometimes they take out the fan shroud, tensioner pulley, etc. Mine died not too long ago, didn't hurt anything and was only $90 from Cummins, so it can go both ways I guess.

I think the PacBrake also integrates with the '06 ECM no problem. Instead of a vacuum pump, it uses a compressor. This gives you the option of a storage tank to air up other things, nice feature. It also has more braking power than the Jake, and works better at altitude. The flip side of this one is potential hassles in winter with air lines feezing making the brake non-functional. The claim of better braking at altitude may be true but I live and drive at high altitude (8000 ft +) and my Jake still works well.

Congrats on the '06, my personal favorite of the third gens. :)
